JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Technician within the substance use disorder unit provides critical support to patients undergoing treatment. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, assisting with daily activities, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment. The technician collaborates with healthcare professionals to implement care plans, document patient progress, and facilitate communication. Compassion, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills are essential for fostering positive relationships with patients and their families while promoting recovery and wellness.

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant Program with placement on the Illinois Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry
• Current CPR certification required
• Completion of CPI and Team Restraints training within 3 months of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk as well as occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and ability to speak are necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, sharp eye focus and ability to distinguish colors. There may be periods of stressful, intense concentration with more than average pressure used in a variety of problem-solving situations.
