The AWS ADC Commerce Platform (CP) Operations team is seeking an Engineering Manager who can thing big and simplify solutions to complex problems, all while ensuring our customers continue to have the best experience possible! AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations - from foundational services such as Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS's services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work. Key job responsibilities
You will provide exceptional leadership for a team of highly talented engineers that build and operate Commerce Platform's (CP) systems that enable customers to purchase AWS services while understanding and managing their cloud infrastructure costs. Our engineering teams support services running in air gapped regions that are often isolated from the public internet creating unique engineering challenges and opportunities for innovation. The ADC Commerce Platform (CP) Operations team is responsible for diving deep to resolve operational challenges, innovating to automate operational tasks, supporting execution of various security campaigns (blocked software, host patching), and parity program activities such as data migration, client migration and service cutovers. As a leader you will:
- Hire, motivate, mentor and develop a team of engineers, promoting growth and opportunity
- Define the structure and strategy for the team determining the right mix of engineers and where they need to be allocated to meet the business goals.
- Establish a roadmap and successfully deliver engineering solutions that execute that vision. Your roadmap influences the organizational goals and you are involved in the yearly planning process.
- Provide your team with the necessary support to take responsibility for team systems end-to-end (design, code quality, system health).
- Develop senior engineers promoting growth and opportunities to demonstrate higher level role scope, impact, complexity, and leadership. - Work cross functionally to foster a constructive dialogue, harmonize discordant views, and lead the resolution of contentious issues.

The CP ADC Operations team provides support for the suite of Commerce Platform services operating in the ADC (air gapped) regions. Commerce Platform processes trillions of events per month from AWS services such as these to provide bill generation, payment processing, fraud prevention, customer usage, and analytics to both AWS customers and internal users. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
- 5+ years of Software Development or Systems experience, including hands-on development work and object-oriented design.
- 3+ years of proven track record of high-scale hiring and talent management on teams of multiple disciplines/job families.
- Systems engineering experience (e.g., virtualization, hardware design, operating system tuning), experience building scalable infrastructure software or distributed systems
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software/system product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of DevOps Engineers

The base pay for this position ranges from $149,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $258,800/year in our highest geographic market.
