Job description
ABSC is seeking a Level III Responsible Artificial Intelligence Project Manager to work on-site in Northern, Virginia. to support the CDAO. From machine learning software development to program and project management, the CDAO is looking for world-class talent driven to tackle tough challenges at the intersection of national security and cutting-edge AI technology. Work is hybrid, some work to be performed on-site in Northern, Virginia, no more than 2-3 days per week on-site, with the remainder of the work performed remotely. The Department of Defense-s (DoD) CDAO is responsible for the acceleration of the DoD-s adoption of data, analytics, and AI to generate decision advantage across, from the boardroom to the battlefield. Stood up in February 2022 by integrating the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC), Defense Digital Services (DDS), the Chief Data Officer, and the enterprise platform Advana into one organization, the office of the CDAO is building a strong foundation for data, analytic, and AI-enabled capabilities to be developed and fielded at scale. The Level III Responsible Artificial Intelligence Project Manager will support the CDAO's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in providing strategic awareness, advice and expertise related to technology trends in support of the acceleration of the adoption of data, analytics, and AI across the DoD. The SETA support focuses on advancing CDAO-s AI/ML and data-driven initiatives. Major Duties/Tasks: Facilitates the management of multiple responsible AI projects in stages ranging from initiation to deployment, enabling understanding of project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including researchers, engineers, data scientists, and ethics and policy experts, to define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria. Develops comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocations, and actively monitor progress against key milestones. Identifies and forecasts risks, issues, and dependencies, and proactively communicates with stakeholders to address challenges and ensure project success. Implements robust knowledge management solutions, including document repositories, wikis, and collaboration tools, to facilitate the capture, organization, and dissemination of project-related information and insights. Establishes and enforces best practices for documentation, version control, and knowledge sharing across project teams. Fosters a culture of continuous improvement by soliciting feedback from project teams and stakeholders, and leveraging lessons learned to refine project management processes and methodologies. Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; PMP certification is a plus. Required Skills/Experience: An Active Secret Clearance is required. A minimum of 5+ years of experience managing complex projects, preferably in the AI, machine learning, or software development domain is required. Strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders. Experience implementing knowledge management solutions, including document management systems, collaboration platforms, and version control tools. Familiarity with agile and traditional project management methodologies, as well as project management tools such as Jira or Microsoft Project. Passion for responsible AI and a commitment to promoting ethical and transparent practices in AI development and deployment.
