Description SAIC is seeking an experienced Big Data Engineer/Architect to support the US Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFMS) program. This is a fully remote position with no travel or onsite requirements. AFMS is the premier agency responsible for implementation, integration, and development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and training and analysis standards that support the US Air Force (USAF), Department of Defense (DoD), and mission partners requiring these capabilities to support the Warfighter in full-spectrum operations. The Big Data Engineer/Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing big data solutions to support the agency's data infrastructure and strategic business goals. This role involves developing and managing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, data pipelines, and data warehouses to ensure seamless data flow and visualization capabilities. We are seeking a highly experienced individual with a proven track record of successful big data projects and data infrastructure management. Key Responsibilities: Big Data Solution Design and Implementation: Design and implement big data solutions to support the agency's data infrastructure and strategic business goals.
ETL Process Design and Management: Design, implement, and manage ETL processes to ensure data is accurately and efficiently transformed and loaded into the appropriate data stores for visualization. Data Pipeline Management: Develop and manage data pipelines to ensure seamless data flow and visualization capabilities. Data Warehouse Management: Design, implement, and manage data warehouses to support big data initiatives. Performance Tuning: Optimize the performance of big data solutions by tweaking metadata databases, caching layers, and other configurations. Security and Compliance: Implement role-based access control and ensure compliance with security best practices. Continuous Integration and Deployment: Manage continuous integration and deployment pipelines for server-based technologies. Big Data Initiatives: Play a crucial role in driving our big data initiatives, ensuring that our data infrastructure supports strategic business goals and provides actionable insights. Qualifications Required Qualifications: DoD 8570 certification in IAT Level II certification or above (Security+ CE, CASP+ CE, CISSP, etc.). Must be US Citizen and currently possess an active Secret clearance. Bachelor's and 9+ years or more experience; Master's and 7+ years or more experience; PhD and 4 years related experience; or relevant years of experience in lieu of degree. Proven track record of successfully designing and implementing big data solutions. Strong experience with ETL processes and tools. Advanced knowledge of database management systems and SQL. Expertise in scripting languages such as Python. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to drive big data initiatives and align data infrastructure with strategic business goals. Nice to Have: AWS experience is a plus. Experience with MongoDB or Kafka is a plus. Cloud experience is a plus, but not required. Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors. SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline. Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
