Job description

The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for evaluating project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare precise cost estimates for electrical projects. This role demands a strong understanding of electrical systems, detailed analytical skills, and effective collaboration with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure all estimates are accurate and competitive.

Client Details

My client is a premier union electrical subcontractor serving the Greater Philadelphia area. They are currently seeking a skilled Electrical Estimator to join their team and help continue to deliver outstanding results.

Description

  • Review and analyze project plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine the scope of electrical work and required materials.
  • Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical installations, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Assess historical data, industry trends, and market conditions to formulate effective pricing strategies and project cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements, address discrepancies, and adjust estimates as needed.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive bid proposals, including detailed cost breakdowns and project timelines.
  • Maintain and update cost databases and estimation software to reflect current pricing and industry trends.
  • Ensure estimates are completed promptly and in accordance with company standards and procedures.
  • Assist in preparing contract negotiations and project budgets as required.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrical estimator, preferably with a union electrical subcontractor.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and tools, such as Accubid, Bluebeam, or similar programs.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Union membership or willingness to join a union is required.
  • Knowledge of local codes and regulations relevant to the Greater Philadelphia area is a plus.
