The Plumber will have the responsibility of maintaining, testing, modifying, adjusting and repairing Water distribution and sewage collection systems, water mains, distribution systems, and backflow preventers, Drain lines including glass piping, Acid neutralizing system, Steam distribution and condensate return lines, including regulating devices and traps, Natural gas distribution and fuel oil distribution lines, systems, and associated components, Plumbing fixtures and equipment, Fire hydrants and building fire protection systems, Underground sanitary and storm sewer lines, Compressed air lines, Compressed gas lines, Liquid nitrogen lines, Installation of new water lines, Installation of new pumps and related equipment, Laboratory equipment, Vacuum Lines, and All pipe insulation. Responsibilities/Duties: Plumber will inspect, maintain, test, modify, adjust and repair plumbing related systems, and components at USDA ERRC. These activities include, but are not limited to: Inspecting equipment, systems, and piping to ensuring proper operation and prevention of leaks Lubricating plumbing related machinery and equipment Insulating new plumbing lines and repaired piping systems Clearing clogged drains and sewage lines Adjusting and repairing leaking joints, faucets, pipes, etc. Repairing pumps and valves Replacing seals and couplings Resetting loose commodes and sinks; unclogging, repairing, and replacing commodes and sinks Installing, connecting, and replacing steam, gas, and water lines to laboratory equipment Cleaning storm sewers and catch basins Maintaining and repairing plumbing waste lines and valves Cutting or drilling holes and openings in walls and floors and setting sleeves, thimbles, or inserts providing passage and support for pipe and fittings Checking and replacing meters and gauges Painting replaced piping services ensuring proper coding/identification and color consistency Replacing valve seats and washers Monitoring PH of acid waste neutralization tank to ensure it remains at PH7, periodically cleaning out sludge, and replacing bed as required with limestone 1-3" in diameter and containing more than 90% calcium carbonate. Skills & Requirements Required Skills: Clear background investigation. Clear driver's license and have reliable transportation to work High level of plumbing installation, troubleshooting and repair Maintenance Documentation completion and filing Customer Service Skills Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and familiar with CMMS Excellent Organizational skills Required Experience: Five (5) years of experience in a variety of plumbing systems and components. Required Education: High School diploma or GED. Qualifications Our positions may require a background screening and clearance directly from the Government.
