Client Details

My client is a leading construction firm dedicated to delivering high-quality projects while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. They are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Controller to join the finance team. This role will be instrumental in supporting the Controller and ensuring the financial health of our operations.

Description

As an Assistant Controller, you will work closely with the Controller to manage and oversee key financial processes. Your responsibilities will include handling accounts payable, payroll, cash management, bank reconciliations, and month-end close activities. You will play a crucial role in preparing financial statements, providing insights for business decisions, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable & Payroll: Manage and process AP transactions and payroll functions accurately and efficiently.
  • Cash Management: Oversee cash flow and manage daily cash balances to ensure operational liquidity.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Month-End Close: Assist with month-end close procedures, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
  • Financial Statements: Prepare and review financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
  • Insights & Business Decisions: Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic business decisions and operational improvements.

Profile

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. MBA/CPA is a plus
  • Experience: 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with Vista accounting software or similar ERP systems is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Personal Attributes: Ability to work collaboratively with team members, proactive in problem-solving, and capable of handling multiple tasks and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with month-end close processes and journal entries.
  • Familiarity with construction industry financial practices and regulations.
