Overview:
Glenwell, a DePaul Senior Living Community is hiring a full-time Resident Care Director.
The Resident Care Director is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of resident care in accordance with company guidelines for ACF / ALR and Home Care Regulations. The Resident Care Director is in a leadership role in the community and therefore, is expected to maintain professional perspective at all times by demonstrating positive customer service skills in dealing with both external and internal customers.
The annual salary range for this opportunity is $58,500 to $61,620.

With internal customers (DePaul employees) the Resident Care Director is expected to be a team player and to lead by example. The Resident Care Director is required to demonstrate positive coaching and accountability techniques in order to teach, encourage and develop department team members.
With external customers (residents and all others involved in their care); the Resident Care Director is expected to utilize positive customer services skills in order to create an environment of person centered resident care.
Under the general direction of the Administrator, the Resident Care Director is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, and coordinating the resident care staff, supplies, and equipment in such a way that meaningful resident service is established to render optimum resident care.
Responsibilities:
1. Policies
Assures that Resident Care Staff abides by company policies and procedures.
Provides feedback through appropriate chain of command recommending any needed change in policy.
2. Planning and Organizing
With Administrator oversight, the Resident Care Director implements a staffing schedule that takes into consideration the mix of PCA/HHA staff (if applicable) as well as the needs of the residents. This schedule is posted at least two weeks in advance and all staff must be notified of their hours.
Provides sufficient staff on each shift to assure uninterrupted service to residents at all times.
Implements and maintains a system for assuring all appropriate staff participate in required in-servicing.
Ensures that resident care staff receives required competency testing upon hire, annually and according to the state regulation.
Implements and keeps current systems that identifies due dates for all initial and annual resident care documents.
3. Staffing
Assists with recruitment and coordinates the interview, reference and hiring process for the resident care department.
Explains personnel policies and individual duties to each new employee and assists with orientation to the community, team and his/her job functions.
Provides supportive ongoing and continual supervision for all resident care department staff utilizing the chain of command in the community.
4. Directing
a. Monitor, through daily rounds, the work of all resident care staff on shift, providing
constructive feedback on how each is doing.
b. Maintains and updates personnel records for each staff on a timely basis.
c. Evaluates the work of each resident care staff person and provides opportunities for
positive and / or constructive feedback on a regular and consistent basis.
d. Holds regular staff meetings designed to educate and teach.
e. Counsel employees as the need is apparent; dismiss from employment as policy and need
indicate (with the approval of the Administrator and / or HR department).
4. Resident Care
Oversees the process of person centered care for residents.
Insure that Resident Care Staff are providing all services and care for residents in a manner that emphasizes dignity and respect.
Schedule meetings with resident and family as requested or when necessary to discuss concerns relating to resident care issues.
5. Resident Records
Review all medication room procedures, at minimum, on a weekly basis to determine if policies and procedures are being followed. Provide immediate follow up to staff if this is not happening.
Respond to medical providers' recommendations and any other resident care issues in a timely manner. Document actions accordingly.
Respond to quality management audits and reports as required, and in a timely manner. Document all follow up in a way that is determined by the Administrator.
6. Other Duties
Requires On-Call Duty as necessary for supervision, coverage issues and community emergencies and as determined by the Administrator.
Responsible for assuring that HIPPA and confidentiality practices are maintained in regards to residents and staff.
Along with the Administrator and management team, assists in development and continual practice of positive leadership with the intent to provide excellent care to all residents.
Completes all other duties / responsibilities as assigned by the Administrator.
Qualifications:
1. Registered Nurse preferred.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
3. Meet reference and criminal record check requirements.
4. Complete initial / annual health assessment requirements, including TB testing as
required.
5. Must be competent in passing medications and able to teach others the required skills.
6. Requires the ability to work with monitoring and licensing agencies.
7. Long-Term Care experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity required.
8. Possess a working knowledge of resident care particularly with the geriatric and adult
special care needs population.
9. Requires a working knowledge of applicable NYS Adult Home and Home Care Rules and
Regulations.
10. Develops and assist in providing 12 hours of in-service training per year for staff.
11. Possess a valid New York State driver's license that meets DePaul's clean driving record
policy.
Work Environment:
Well-lighted, air-conditioned / heated environment; may be exposed to residents with communicable diseases or confused residents who become combative. May be required to work outside on occasion when required by resident care needs (i.e., resident walks or other outdoor resident activities).
Latex gloves, goggles for standard precautions. Office equipment (copier, computer, fax machine, telephone), fire extinguisher, wheelchairs.
