This position will support research and development of new tissue forms by processing research tissue, conducting experiments and testing biomechanical and biochemical properties of allograft tissue. Maintain safe lab environment and follow universal precautions and relevant SOPs.

Responsibilities:
Prepare tissue forms and prototype devices for preclinical and safety testing following established procedures.

Assist in the daily operation of the R&D laboratories, including ordering and maintaining supplies, maintaining laboratory cleanliness and scheduling use of laboratory space and equipment.

Clean and prepare equipment and supplies for sterile processing; prepare chemicals for processing.

Able to work with machining equipment, toxic and flammable materials.

Able to work with human and animal tissue.

Perform mechanical, physical or chemical assay testing as directed by supervisor.

Participate in process design, development and process equipment development as part of new product development and product or process improvement.

Perform record keeping for all experiments and research activities, in compliance with GLP guidelines.

Assist on special projects.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma/GED

Years of Experience: 1 - 3 years

Other: Two years' experience working within a laboratory or manufacturing operation in medical device or life science industry.

Specialized Knowledge, Technical Skills, and Abilities:

Experience working in a laboratory environment or controlled manufacturing environment required.

Ability to work independently following instructions and protocols provided by supervisor.

Good communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel.

Able to take direction and follow instructions. Works well in a team environment.

Knowledge of sterile technique and universal safety precautions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Associate's degree in engineering or science.

Years of Experience: 3 - 5 years

Other: 3 years' experience working within a laboratory or manufacturing operation in medical device or life science industry strongly preferred.

Specialized Knowledge, Technical Skills, and Abilities:

Experience with mechanical testing, mechanical testing equipment and use of laboratory equipment such as centrifuge, lyophilizer, analytical balances, micropipettes, etc. preferred.

Experience performing biochemical assays preferred.

Experience in experimental design and execution in wet or dry lab a plus.

Experience with collagen-based medical devices or implants a plus.
