Job Summary

The Tax Compliance Accountant will be responsible for managing the company's tax reporting and compliance within all jurisdictions where Golden Waffles operates. This role ensures accurate and timely filing of tax returns and compliance with all tax regulations, while also providing strategic insights to minimize tax liabilities and support business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Tax Compliance:

  1. Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns in a timely manner.
  2. Ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations, staying updated on changes in tax legislation.
  3. Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure accurate and efficient tax filings.

Tax Planning and Strategy:

  1. Identify opportunities for tax savings and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position.
  2. Provide analysis and recommendations on tax implications of various business decisions and transactions.

Financial Reporting:

  1. Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions for financial reporting purposes.
  2. Maintain accurate and organized tax records and documentation.

Audit and Internal Controls:

  1. Support tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
  2. Ensure internal controls related to tax processes are effective and adhered to.

Research and Analysis:

  1. Conduct research on complex tax issues and provide guidance on tax-related matters.
  2. Monitor developments in tax regulations and communicate potential impacts to management.

Position Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax compliance and reporting, preferably in a corporate environment.
  3. Experience with tax software and financial accounting systems.
  4. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
