Job description
Volt is immediately hiring for Materials Engineering Technician in Waterloo, IA
As a Materials Engineering Technician, you will:
- Perform materials engineering supporting tasks or complex laboratory analytical functions with limited engineering oversight.
- Completes tasks involving preparation or analysis of material samples/components/processes with minor engineering oversight for moderately complex activities.
- Develop, recommend, and implement analytical or process changes needed to maintain or improve product quality on a tactical or strategic basis.
- Work with maintenance and production personnel to troubleshoot laboratory equipment, process, or analytical problems.
- Create and maintain process instructions or develop analytical processes to meet production needs.
- Create and maintain laboratory procedures and processes.
- Maintain "Sustain" level of 5S in the materials Engineering lab.
- Perform laboratory tasks as requested and support activities in the materials lab as Materials engineering Work Request are received.
- Work with requestors to ensure proper work is being done and parts are being delivered to lab.
- Order and stock lab consumables.
- Track reservation number, IM number, price, order date and delivery date.
- Enter crib reservation in SAP (PDX) transaction.
- Collect Parts, Perform Audits and Maintain Monthly/Quarterly Audit spreadsheets. .
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Understanding of part prints, process instructions.
- Knowledge of ferrous machining processes and application to materials analysis.
- Knowledge of production and analytical equipment, and maintenance activities needed to produce of verify a quality product.
- Solid mechanical aptitude and a strong drive to grow this skill set.
Education:
- Formal education or training required to perform the essential functions of the job. Includes degrees, certifications, licenses and/or registrations requirements.
- 2-year associate technical degree or equivalent work experience.
Relevant Work Experiences:
- Experience in process control and analytical analysis to be interfaced with this position.
- Experience with shop floor or laboratory environment.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience.
- Experience with production systems and databases.
- Experience with using Microsoft Office Suite and other electronic engineering software tools.
Shift: 1st Shift
Duration: 24+ Months (Possible extension)
Location: Waterloo, IA 50704
Pay rate: $32/hr. to $35/hr.
Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
