Job Summary

Excellent opportunity to join a successful well-established wholesale insurance company looking to grow to the next level. The Data Engineer has design, development and support responsibility for our business-critical data. In addition, this position is responsible for implementing the established data architecture, relying on experience and good judgement to design and develop solutions that expand our solid foundation. Utilizes existing or upcoming technology to set process automation and improvements where they are possible.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and design solutions, creating tables, views, triggers, partitions, procedures, functions, indexes and other database objects in line with our data architecture
  • Analyze database and system response time and determine optimization and tuning recommendations
  • Support the Data Warehouse by responding to process failures, data anomalies and performance events by taking appropriate measures to reduce system downtime and eliminate recurrence of problems.
  • Perform and develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to support reporting by integrating data from a variety of data sources into the Data Warehouse.
  • Test ETL process, perform analysis, identify changes and share appropriately.
  • Make data architecture and design recommendations based on database design concepts (3NF, Normalization/Denormalization, Dimensional Model) aiding in the decision-making process for their usage.
  • Modify existing reports and/or develop new reports by analyzing databases, data sources and data structures, delivering critical reporting to customers both internally and externally.
  • Adhere to and enforce data security requirements and solutions: help ensure that data (both on-premises and in the cloud) is treated as a protected asset.
Primary Skills & Requirements:
  • 8+ years professional experience working with relational and/or dimensional database.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or similar.
  • Experience in an Agile Environment, preferred.
  • Experience in Azure suite of tools including Azure SQL DW, Azure Synapse and/or Azure Data Factory preferred.
  • Experience with one or more ETL Tools such as Informatica, SSIS, PowerCenter, Wherescape Red, etc, preferred.
  • Experience with ACORD Standard, XML and/or DTCC, preferred.
