Job Summary:
As a Senior Estimator, you will take the lead in analyzing project documents and developing comprehensive cost estimates for large-scale drywall and architectural wall projects. You will collaborate closely with project managers, architects, clients, and subcontractors to ensure all costs are accounted for and provide strategic input on how to optimize profitability while maintaining project quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the estimating process for large-scale drywall and architectural wall projects from concept to completion
- Review architectural drawings, project specifications, and construction documents to determine project scope and cost factors
- Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead
- Manage and mentor a team of estimators, ensuring quality control and timely completion of estimates
- Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure cost efficiency
- Identify project risks and create contingency plans to mitigate potential cost overruns
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client consultations to gather project details and ensure thorough understanding of requirements
- Prepare bid proposals, respond to RFPs, and submit estimates within deadlines
- Review and assess changes in project scope and update estimates accordingly
- Maintain and update estimating software and cost databases with current pricing and labor rates
- Provide guidance and support to project managers during the handover of successful bids, ensuring all relevant details are communicated for project execution
- Stay informed of market trends, materials, labor costs, and industry best practices
Qualifications:
- 7 years of experience in estimating, with a focus on drywall and architectural wall systems
- Extensive knowledge of drywall systems, materials, and installation methods
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, architectural drawings, and specifications
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail
- Expertise in estimating software and tools (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, Bluebeam)
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines concurrently
- Strong negotiation skills with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Knowledge of building codes, industry standards, and regulations is highly desirable
