Director of Behavioral Health Overview
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this leadership role is pivotal in enhancing the quality of life for our clients through the development, planning, and supervision of all clinical services, including mental health services. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated team of Program Coordinators and manage psychological, social work, and ancillary therapies within outpatient services. Description

  • Establishes quality standards for client care in mental health, addiction treatment, and health promotion activities.
  • Ensures continuous improvement protocols are in place for mental health and addiction services, and monitors compliance with quality assurance standards.
  • Plans and oversees new program initiatives, collaborates on funding efforts, and ensures the continuation of ongoing funding.
  • Provides 24/7 consultation availability for program staff.
  • Oversees recruiting, maintaining, and providing clinical coverage in collaboration with the program department to ensure 24-hour client support.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates the Clinical Administrative Coordinator, Program Coordinators, and Licensed Clinical Therapists.
  • Manages and oversees the internship program, including task assignment, weekly supervision, and adherence to university and licensing board standards.
  • Oversees performance and competency standards for all clinical programs.
  • Creates and manages individual and group supervision schedules in line with national standards.
  • Conducts and documents individual and group supervision for each position based on direct service administrative and clinical responsibilities.
  • Oversees the medical billing process to ensure compliance with regulations and internal procedures.
  • Maintains communication and positive relationships with external stakeholders and funders.
  • Ensures professional competence through ongoing continuing education activities.
  • Oversees quality assessment and improvement activities.
  • Facilitates weekly clinical and case management meetings.
  • Supervises curriculum for client psychoeducational, mental health treatment, and substance abuse treatment classes.
  • Assumes the Clinical Administrative Coordinator's role and responsibilities in their absence, either independently or through delegation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in social services or a related field.
  • Independent licensure in social services.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of management experience overseeing multiple programs and personnel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer and information systems.
  • Professional manner and appearance.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Experience working effectively with a diverse group of clients, staff, and community members.
  • Knowledge or experience working with veterans is preferred.
  • Ability to travel locally between program sites and occasionally for national conferences/training. A valid driver's license is preferred. If driving company vehicles, must meet insurance requirements and complete driver training.
