Summary & Objective
The Lead EVS Technician assists the Supervisor in maintaining a high quality standard by keeping him/her informed on the condition of all assigned areas and by training, supervising and motivating the environmental services personnel to be sure all schedules are completed.
Essential Functions
- Performs the duties of the environmental services aide as outlined in the job description
- Accepts responsibility for the limited areas, shift or task as assigned
- Continuously checks assigned areas to be sure work is being done properly and that personnel are following schedules (duty lists)
- Reports any pertinent information to the supervisor as it occurs
- Instills a service-minded approach to all tasks performed by environmental services staff by demonstrating a personal enthusiasm and team spirit
- Motivates staff by communicating areas done well and areas needing improvement
- Help train new EVS Technicians on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and the proper use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Provide ongoing support, coaching, and development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills and performance.
- Ensure that all cleaning operations comply with regulatory requirements, including OSHA standards and infection control protocols.
- Monitor the use of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring proper storage, handling, and usage to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Report and address any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or incidents promptly.
- Respond to and address any special cleaning requests, complaints, or concerns from patients, staff, or visitors in a timely and professional manner.
- Execute specialized cleaning projects, including but not limited to deep cleaning, floor care (e.g., stripping, waxing, buffing), carpet cleaning, and window washing.
- Coordinate with the EVS Lead or Manager to plan and prioritize projects based on facility needs and schedules.
- Ensure that all project work is completed efficiently and meets the required standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Participate in all morning and any other mandatory meetings during the absence of supervisor/manager.
- Some projects may require evening hours.
Other Duties
- Maintain your required licenses, certifications and mandatory skill updates as needed
- Comply with all policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
- Provide other duties of other team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
- May serve as an interim department leader depending on need
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Requirements:Knowledge & Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in environmental services or a related field, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role preferred.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
