Stevedore Manager Job Summary

We are seeking a Stevedore Manager to be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all stevedoring activities within the terminal operations. This role involves managing the stevedore team, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and optimizing the efficiency of cargo handling processes. The Stevedore Manager will work closely with other departments to ensure seamless operations and high levels of service.

Stevedore Manager Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the stevedore team, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee the loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring adherence to safety and operational protocols.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for stevedoring activities to maximize efficiency and minimize delays.
  • Coordinate with terminal operations and logistics teams to ensure smooth cargo flow and resolve any operational issues.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with clients and vendors to address any service-related issues and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Analyze performance metrics and implement improvements to optimize cargo handling processes.
  • Prepare and manage budgets related to stevedoring operations, including labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure they are in good working condition.

Stevedore Manager Position Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in stevedoring, terminal operations, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of cargo handling techniques, terminal equipment, and stevedoring best practices.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, Coast Guard, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and terminal management software is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed to meet operational demands.
