Position Description: Provide systems management support for the Space Launch System (SLS) Spacecraft and Payload Integration and Evolution (SPIE) Office at Kennedy Space Center. The following areas of the SLS SPIE Element Office, services include: SPIE SE&I: Provide design, development, qualification, and integration expertise for SLS Integrated Spacecraft and Payload Element (ISPE) hardware, managed by the Spacecraft/Payload Integration and Evolution Office (SPIE). Provide expertise associated with integrating ISPE hardware, including the Orion Stage Adapter (OSA), Launch Vehicle Stage Adapter (LVSA), Interim Cryogenic Propulsion System (ICPS), Secondary Payload Accommodation System (SPAS), Universal Stage Adapter (USA) Fairing, Payload Adapter (PA), primary, secondary, and co-manifested payloads. Coordinate and perform systems engineering and integration activities pertinent to requirements definition/development, interface definition, identification of integration tasks/activities associated with Ground Support Equipment (GSE), ISPE flight/ground hardware during assembly, integrated testing, and launch operations. Maintain awareness/knowledge of SPIE Operations Maintenance Requirements and Specifications (OMRS), Launch Commit Criteria (LCC), Work Authorization Documents (WAD), Maximo Work Orders (WO), GSE, spare flight/ground hardware, consumables, released engineering products/requirements associated with SPIE for assembly, integration, test, and launch operations. SPIE Operations Design Center Representative: Work closely with the Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) Office and operations support prime contractors to troubleshoot/resolve assembly and integration issues by making real-time authoritative recommendations/decisions regarding ISPE hardware. Represents SPIE as a key member of the Problem Resolution Team (PRT) with EGS as the Design Center Point of Contact to collaborate with SPIE Operations Manager, Chief Engineering and Chief Safety Officers Offices, and OEMs to reach technical consensus on any issues that affect operations with SPIE Hardware Participate in SLS/SPIE review/control boards, Interface Working Groups (WGs), task teams, milestone reviews, and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs). Perform frequent internal and external communication and coordination with MSFC SLS and KSC EGS programs, with an emphasis on SPIE ground operations and integration. Provide regular and periodic reporting (weekly notes, status charts, etc.) to the SPIE Office. Qualifications: (9CP) A degree in Engineering or related field is required. A degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a minimum of an MS with at least 3 years of experience, or BS with at least 5 years of experience. (9CQ) A degree in Engineering or related field is required. A degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a PhD with 14 years of experience, an MS with at least 18 years of experience, or a BS with at least 20 years of experience. Requirements: Effective and creative management of technical, and scheduling challenges. Ability to integrate management and technical functions to ensure informed decisions, be an effective communicator, and represent SPIE at various meetings and interface with numerous contractors and government agencies. Familiarity with NASA MSFC processes, procedures and requirements. Experience in systems engineering integration and operations. Proficient with oral and written communication skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work in a team environment, consisting of government and contractors, and build collaborative relationships within and across organizations. Ability to work in a leadership role supporting government/customer interests to contractors and other NASA center organizations. Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
