Job description

The Production Manager functions under the supervision of and in coordination with the General Manager, and is required to help develop, schedule, coordinate and effectively communicate the technical needs of all Cannery Hall programming and events. This position is responsible for the production quality, and brand promise, of everything that takes place inside of Cannery Hall. We cant create and maintain a cult following for the Cannery Hall brand unless our experience is flawless.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Communicates Cannery Hall services available to clients and promoters and works with clients and staff to determine event requirements, staffing needs, rates, equipment needs and move-in/out days; coordinates, arranges, and documents event requirements requested by promoters, agents and clients and communicates those to other employees and vendors to ensure smooth concert/event operations; assures setups are done in accordance with lease requirements, safety, fire and health codes and facility procedures.
  2. Oversees the technical services for all programming and events at Cannery Hall, ensuring the ultimate in sound and light capabilities.
  3. Responsible for growing the music business throughout the Cannery Hall complex.
  4. Interacts with other facility staff to facilitate planning and scheduling of concerts and festivals and to ensure efficient management of daily activities to assure the delivery of service and promotion; monitors concert requirements and how they interface with other facility events and activities.
  5. Makes or arranges for last-minute adjustments in room or equipment setups at the request of the lessee or to assure compliance with safety measures and prepares an accurate statement of additional changes for settlement purposes.
  6. Provides functional supervision of event support Technical staff.
  7. Prepares cost estimates and bids as needed for use by facility or promoter; arranges and performs event settlement at conclusion of the event; maintains records of individual events and collects statistical data on usage; maintains mailing lists and event files.
  8. Assumes responsibility for resolving problems during course of assigned events; receives and responds to complaints from tenants, patrons, and the public.
  9. Ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures, especially pertaining to areas of financial and legal exposure for Cannery Hall.
  10. Creates an accurate annual budget for the Production (Technical) Department.
    1. Maintains/Oversees budget in a fiscally responsible manner.
      1. Manage this process with direct reports and monitor status for reforecasting purposes.
      2. Regularly monitors any revenue pieces through appropriate reports.
      3. Regularly monitors expenses and monthly monitoring through thorough review of financials received from the DZL/Cannery Hall Accounting Office.
    2. Notifies supervisor immediately of any impending non-trivial variances (revenues or expenses) as soon as they become evident.
  11. Cultivates a culture of openness and fairness continuously striving towards improved and timely communications and team performance to fulfill goals and objectives. Ensures personal and departmental members ability to be successful in interfacing with all internal departments (i.e., Event Sales & Services, Production, Ticketing, Marketing, Food & Beverage, Security, and Housekeeping) to distribute and disseminate information integral to the successful implementation of events, as well as to fine tune, define and upgrade the types of services and products we offer to be successfully competitive.
  12. Issues invoices, monitors receivables and is responsible for collections. Administers and/or supervises settlements as required.
  13. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  14. Maintains knowledge of deal structures and supports their fulfillment at the time of settlement. Administers & assists others with settlement as assigned.
  15. Strives for excellence in maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records of all concert production (technical) expenses, revenues, and payments to external vendors, and industry organizations.
  16. Serves as a liaison between venue, clients, and outside vendors to maintain Cannery Halls growing reputation of having the most knowledgeable and customer-friendly event staff. Communicates and coordinates production requirements accordingly.
  17. Manages production files, budget forecasting, facility usage reports, and other associated operations databases.
  18. Settles events, along with the Cannery Hall Management team.
  19. Acts as Manager on Duty as required.
  20. Supports co-workers because were family.
  21. Performs specific tasks as assigned by General Manager.

The above-listed duties are not all inclusive. This position is expected to perform other work-related duties as assigned even though they may not be considered primary duties.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience Required

Bachelors degree from four-year College or University; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of four years Event Management or Production experience.

Skills and Knowledge Required

Knowledge of computer operations, including Microsoft Office programs.
