Advanced Embedded Software Engineer Middletown, RI Contract Position $52.21/Hour Support the development of mission-critical systems for national defense as an Advanced Embedded Software Engineer. Contribute to state-of-the-art technologies for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance systems supporting the Army, Navy, Air Force, Special Forces, and other Federal Government agencies. Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership and expertise in the design, development, testing, and delivery of software for embedded systems.
Drive the entire software engineering lifecycle, from requirements gathering and analysis to government support and maintenance.
Lead the design and development of embedded system services and ensure software meets safety, security, and performance standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in real-time, high-assurance systems through diagnostics and debugging of existing code.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration and compliance with project requirements.
Engage with customers, providing updates on progress, addressing issues, and contributing to technology and capability roadmaps. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (Science, Engineering, or Mathematics).
5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on embedded systems.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret Clearance.
Proficiency in C programming (5+ years) and experience working in Linux environments (shell scripting and command line expertise).
Hands-on experience in developing, testing, and debugging real-time embedded systems.
Familiarity with message-oriented middleware.
Experience with the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance.
Knowledge of DevOps concepts, including version control, build/test automation, and deployment strategies. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with additional message-oriented middleware products such as AMQP and Data Distribution Service (DDS).
Experience with both waterfall and agile/lean software development methodologies.
Proficiency with lab equipment like Oscilloscopes, DMMs, Spectrum Analyzers, and other test tools.
