Overview:
Associate Scientist II
Responsibilities:
Essential Responsibilities
Conduct GLP and non-GLP genetic toxicology assays (i.e. Ames, Comet, and micronucleus assays)
Maintain and dose cultured cells, including primary cells and stem cells.
Perform laboratory maintenance tasks (e.g. material storage and disposal, equipment monitoring/maintenance, etc.).
Assist in the maintenance of supply inventories.
Maintain study books.
Handle data (e.g. organize data, prepare data tables).
Train others in basic lab skills.
Perform peer reviews of laboratory records and study documentation
Analyze data and report results to study directors
Independently participate in the Quality Assurance audit process
Revise SOPs, protocols, data documentation, and laboratory processes to improve laboratory efficiency
Additional Responsibilities
Perform molecular biology procedures (i.e. DNA/RNA/protein isolation and characterization, RT-PCR, enzyme assays, and multi-well plate assays) and flow cytometry-based micronucleus assays.
Assist in the preparation of reports/presentations.
Assist in the departmental QC process.
Assist with software validation.
Work in a team environment with a professional and positive attitude
Other duties as needed

Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Adherence to applicable company policies and guidelines.
Adherence to federal and/or local regulations, as applicable.
Qualifications:
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Education/Experience:Masters Degree in biology or related field
Bachelors Degree in biology or related field AND 2+ years of laboratory experience OR 1+ year of Genetic Toxicology experience
Associates Degree in biology or related field AND 3+ years of laboratory experience OR 2+ years of Genetic Toxicology Experience
Skills:Some combination of genetic toxicology and/or molecular biology laboratory skills
Aseptic technique and mammalian or bacterial cell culture experience
Basic laboratory skills
Experience working under GLP or regulatory requirements highly preferred
Good written and oral communication skills
Excellent computer skills working with spreadsheets, databases, and macro programming
Attention to detail
Strong organizational skills
Ability to differentiate multiple colors
Ability to work at a microscope for 4 hours/day
Ability to wear a respirator
This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level.
