Overview:

The Portfolio Manager role is a leadership and subject matter expert position responsible for managing the portfolio management process to ensure that it runs effectively and smoothly. This manager must understand and navigate the relationships with organizational leaders to drive collaborative efforts and produce and compile cross-functional insights that will guide strategic and operational decisions. As a critical leader of Enterprise Portfolio Management Office, the Portfolio Manager will partner with Executives, Finance, Operations, Strategy and Technology to assemble content and assess opportunities for program and project prioritization, identify opportunities for maximizing value delivered by measuring portfolio progress, evaluating needs, and mitigating risk. The Portfolio Manager will be focused on initiatives that range from simple to complex in nature and will have the ability to influence and lead change in a complex, matrixed organization.

Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and oversight to program managers, project managers, business relationship managers and project portfolio analysts within Enterprise Value Delivery in the execution of strategy deployment and the timely completion of programs and projects across the enterprise.
Work Intake Manages the development of program and project proposals and advancing them to the governance board for a go/no-go decision.
Phase-Gate Manages the governance structure to evaluate, authorize, and monitor projects as they pass through the project lifecycle.
Prioritization Supports the evaluation of project value through a portfolio maturity perspective in order to assign resources to the most important projects and start work at the appropriate time
Portfolio Optimization Supports the optimal grouping of projects that maximize the risk-adjusted portfolio value at a given budgetary level balanced with resource constraints and project interdependencies
Resource Capacity Planning Manages future resource utilization of project resources against available capacity to do work
Hold people accountable for following the process based on a thorough understanding of organizational change management to help the organization adopt portfolio management processes.
Help project teams and senior leaders follow through on agreed upon processes.
Advocate and educate key stakeholders on the importance of portfolio management to drive enterprise value.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required:
Bachelors degree
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

Preferred:
Masters degree, preferred in business, healthcare administration, or related field of study.
Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) Certification

EXPERIENCE:

Required:
7 years of overall work experience in a healthcare environment or business leadership role, with at least 5 years of experience in a program management role
5+ years of experience championing organizational change, e.g., leading initiatives, products, services, or interactions
Proven ability to develop programs and processes to drive enterprise value
Proven ability to coordinate disparate programs and projects for prioritization and delivery
