Facilities Maintenance Technician

Contract Duration 12+ months

Job Description

This is a full-time position to meet the facilities needs of R&D lab spaces.

Primary responsibility is to maintain the ARC (Avian Research Center) Facilities in support of the R&D mission with the goal to identify and resolve any issues before they impact the mission of the ARC.

Secondary responsibility to support the 1040 location R&D labs.

Duties:

Follow all ARC Bio Hazard protocols and the proper disposal of Bio Hazardous waste

Comply with all Biosecurity and Biosafety protocols

Generate and maintain ARC facilities' data records

Monitor/Fulfill Work Orders in support of facilities operations

Electrical/Plumbing/Mechanical repairs including in rooms with active studies

Monitor building/room air pressurizations to ensure proper airflow from biologically clean to biologically dirty areas

Monitor and adjust temp, humidity, and water flow in study rooms

Observe and correct activities impacting biological integrity and personal safety

Support set up, maintenance, and repair of all lab specific equipment

Install environmental controls and monitoring equipment

Monitor on-site contractors

On-Call Alarm response - Weekend and evening on-call rotation

Inventory/Order Pre-Filters, supplies

Schedule Contractor performed PM's

Perform Scheduled Preventative Maintenance:

Daily:

Monitor Pre-Filter / Study Room schedules, replace A/R

Monitor room filters in study rooms

Monitor Room temperatures and humidity

Weekly:

Drain Cage Washer steam generator boiler(s)

Read and record Room pressures

Inspect and clean study room lens caps and receptacles

Check and repair water systems supplying study rooms

Emergency Generator

Maintain operational integrity of backup systems to ensure environmental systems remain operational during adverse weather

Check/replace room filter sleeves

Read, record and analyze Manometer readings

Inspect/renew study room water integrity

Monthly:

Cage washer

Validation, operations check, troubleshooting

Inspect life safety systems

Validate emergency backup systems

Quarterly:

Schedule PM's for critical vivarium systems

ISO Pre-Filter Change (Bio Hazard)

Semiannual:

Schedule Air Compressor PM's

Annually/Biannually- Change HEPA Filters per schedule

Education and Experience

Minimum 2 years field experience in an R&D setting with trade school/high school/associates degree OR 5 years total field experience in a R&D setting or 5 years total field experience in a lab setting

Minimum of 1 year experience working with HVAC systems

A person must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Good general computer skills with knowledge of E-mail, the Internet, and Microsoft Word are a plus for this position.

A person must be a self-motivated individual who can work independently or in a team environment

Must have the ability to lift 70 lbs frequently

Must have a valid US driver's license

May be required to work overtime to meet deadlines
