Client Details

This non-profit cultural institution is known around the world for their modern art exhibits. The Senior Manager of Employee and Labor Relations reports into the Director of HR and works closely with in-house counsel for management of the 5 onsite labor unions.

Description

  • Oversee labor relations for five local unions, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Manage multiple employee relations investigations, grievances, and disciplinary actions simultaneously.
  • Conduct union meetings, serve as the point of contact for union representatives, and ensure transparent communication of outcomes and next steps.
  • Collaborate with department leaders, HR, and legal counsel to resolve labor disputes and employee issues.
  • Lead or support collective bargaining negotiations, ensuring agreements align with organizational goals.
  • Develop strategies to foster strong relationships with union leaders and employees, promoting a positive work environment.
  • Maintain meticulous records of all labor relations activities and ensure accurate documentation of investigations and agreements.
  • Provide guidance and training to managers on labor and employee relations best practices.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in union labor relations.
  • Extensive experience managing labor relations, investigations, grievances, and collective bargaining.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex employee relations issues.
  • Experience working in a cultural institution or a similarly complex environment is a plus.
  • Proficiency in labor laws, regulations, and best practices.
