Job description

Role:

The Estimating Manager will be responsible for the estimating team and oversight of the estimating process, standardized procedures, methods, and processes for estimating deliverables and tracking tools. This role works closely with Sales, Package Engineering, Finance and Operations. Duties include creating pricing estimates, conducting detailed price comparison analysis, identifying areas for process improvement to reduce turnaround time and ensuring that project and department goals are met. The role will report to the VP, New Product Development and Procurement.

Responsibilities:

Monitor and report on required key performance indicators.

Collaborate with operations, package engineers, purchasing and sales during estimate creation to ensure overall accuracy and conformity to fulfill all provisions of project requirements.

Prepare accurate pricing for projects with the proper level of detail using mathematical models to generate estimates.

Critically analyze project quote requests to understand risk and opportunities and articulate those to management.

Prepare large bid pricing opportunities to support sales growth.

Learn and understand product specifications and associated manufacturing processes and equipment to then translate into reliable quotes.

Organize and maintain quotation files with sufficient detail to ensure accurate quote information.

Develop strong relationships with the Sales team to foster collaboration and improve turnaround time.

Motivate, manage, and train the estimating staff ensuring all members of the team understand the importance of their contribution towards achieving the department's objectives.

Address issues and concerns raised by team members relating to pricing.

Find opportunities and recommend changes for continuous improvement with existing business policies, processes, and associated documentation. Gather and implement feedback on proposals from internal partners, and drive implementation of approved changes.

Conduct project Postmortems, analyzing project performance and identifying lessons learned to continuously refine and improve the estimating process.

And other duties / responsibilities as assigned based on the needs of the company.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in finance, Business, Industrial Engineering or relevant field or a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

Minimum 2+ years Management experience.

Minimum of 4+ years of estimator/industry experience in a consumer-packaged goods company.

Position requires significant mathematical calculations associated with estimating toolbox.

Experience in understanding manufacturing costs including direct labor, materials as well as fixed factory costs as they relate to product costing.

Preferred knowledge of filling, packaging, and attaching equipment and operations.

Proficient in MS Office Suite with advanced knowledge of Excel.

Critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills.

Interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.

Time management skills.

Clear communicator and detailed project manager.

Ability to manage projects efficiently

Detail oriented, collaborative, sense of urgency and open minded
