Overview:
Under the direct supervision of the Associate Executive Director, the Program Director for Aquatics is responsible for the YMCA oversight of the swim lesson program, which includes fiscal responsibility, staffing and supervision. The primary responsibility of this position includes the oversight and delivering a program which brings the joy of swimming to children and adults using the YMCA Swim Lessons Curriculum while providing direct service as an instructor. The Program Director for Aquatics will be the principal contact for parents and participants for the YMCA swim lessons and aquatics programs. The Director will create the lesson schedule, deliver and manage swim lessons programs in the YMCA's CRM database (Daxko).

Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and support to YMCA aquatics department by appropriately hiring and mentoring swim instructors and other reporting aquatics personnel by conducting effective onboarding and training for new employees.

Implements swim lessons, private swim lessons, and other aquatics program which drives an increase in participant enrollment resulting in attaining revenue and budget goals as set by the Executive Director.

Ensure all swimming lessons are taught as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines. Provides coverage and training for all aquatics programming as required.

Assists the Aquatics Coordinator and facilities team with maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pools, on decks and surrounding areas. Prevents accidents by maintaining observation of the pool area, enforcing health and safety rules and maintaining emergency readiness.

Develops positive relationships with participants and parents encouraging involvement and identifying potential volunteers and donors.

Works with Aquatics Coordinator to schedule, communicate attendance requirements, set agendas and lead staff meetings and training on a monthly basis.

Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Responds to emergency situations as needed. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.

Conveys basic information on YMCA programs and schedules to members and, as appropriate, refers members to other YMCA programs and/or staff.

Qualifications:
Minimum 21 years of age

YMCA Swim Lesson V.6 Instructor Certification, within 90 days of employment.

Demonstrated ability to assist children and others in the development of swimming skills.

American Red Cross lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED and oxygen administration certifications within 90 days of employment.

Ability to teach skills to others.

Completes online Safe Lifting and Slips, Trip and Fall Training within 90 days.

Will complete The YMCA of Greater Monmouth County New Team Member Orientation within 90 days.

Ability to maintain certification level of physical and mental readiness.

CPO preferred.
