Job description

Duties Conduct inventories of weapons, equipment, and ammunition IAW applicable regulations and accurately completes all forms and records associated with the operations of the arms storage facility. Instruct students and cadre in proper maintenance of small arms. Issues and accounts for small arms and ammunition. Ensure the arms room is maintained IAW applicable regulations. Ensure that intrusion detection devices for the arms room and the building are maintained for proper operation. Use DA/FLW Forms to issue individual and bulk weapons and sign out weapons, equipment and ammunition. Conduct functionality checks of weapons prior to issuing to user and upon receipt from user. Ensure adequate cleaning supplies and equipment are on hand for weapons cleaning. Inspects weapons for cleanliness and serviceability upon return from users. Ensure the restricted area and IDS signs are posted at eye level on the approach to the arms storage area. Assist in managing the hazardous waste stream of weapons cleaning solvents and lubrication; from identification, inspections, and proper turn-in. Initiate and processes requisitions, purchase requests, reports of survey, cash collection vouchers, statement of charges, inventory adjustment reports, and other repots required by higher headquarters. Meet with representatives of higher headquarters or supply sources to discuss problems, furnishes information, and explains and justifies actions taken. Operate Government-owned vehicles (such as pickup trucks, HMMWVs, FMTVs, up to 5-ton trucks) both on and off highways to accomplish pickup and/or turn in of property and equipment for unit, daily/weekly supply runs. Responsible for dispatching of vehicle, maintaining dispatch logs, and driver maintenance of vehicle. Perform a variety of administrative tasks by preparing a variety of recurring reports, narrative, and tabular materials such as equipment status report and material readiness report. Refer to technical manuals and other pertinent guidance for reporting requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position. This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will participate in drug urinalysis testing. Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical Under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program). Tentatively applicants will be required to sign DA Form 7412 (Condition of Employment) for Certain Civilian Positions identified safety-sensitive under the Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration. Rules on drug and alcohol testing requiring participation in random drug testing as a condition of employment. The incumbent of this position must be able to acquire and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)with Hazardous Material Endorsement. Must possess a valid driver's license and be capable of being licensed on vehicles up to and including 5-ton duty vehicles dispatched from the Transportation Motor Pool. Must attend and pass the Fort Leonard Wood Armorer Course, the Installation Mask Course, and Hazardous Material Training to transport ammunition. Must attend and complete IMPAC Government Services Purchasing Card training to be able to purchase supply and services using the IMPAC bank card. Must attend Installation PrWeb training in order to be able to requisition items by purchase request. Personnel are subject to a local background check. A Secret Clearance is required for this position. Duties of this position require heavy lifting of items up to 70 pounds with assistance. A pre- required physical will be required for this position. OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.
