Job description
The candidate will have experience in executing large and complex enterprise projects. The role is well-versed in project management methodology, understanding of agile disciplines, and has a rich background of project/program successes. The candidate should be energetic, personable, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
The role is responsible for leading all day-to-day activities of various small to large-sized projects within the overall portfolio of the assigned technology domain. The candidate will work with the leaders of release trains and scrum teams for a program track that rolls into the larger program. They are responsible for leading the planning, monitoring, execution, and successful completion of their projects - on scope, budget, and schedule and meeting all project metrics for quality.
The candidate will be responsible for leading the creation of project-related deliverables, such as:
Plan of Record (update)
Project Management Plan (owner)
Resource Plans (update)
Project Status Reports (owner)
Issue / Risk / Assumptions / Action Item / Decisions Log (owner) (IRAAD)
This position is expected to apply industry best practices to drive initiative success. The candidate will collaborate with all teams in developing project plans, gathering project status efficiently by following up, and will lead with forward-looking, action-oriented status meetings. They will manage the expectations of internal and external stakeholders through transparent and proactive status reporting, ongoing planning, stakeholder meetings, dependency discussions, impact analysis, and other communications.
The candidate is responsible for assisting and facilitating the deliverables for the assigned program tracks and supporting the PMO team. Responsibilities include:
Facilitating and assisting in dependency management and impact analysis
Tracking and reporting on key metrics and details, providing the visibility and transparency needed for proactive decision making by the PMO and Program Leadership team
Working with management teams to maintain a roadmap that aligns with the Program plan
Working closely with PMO to align processes/plans/artifacts with Program plan and milestones
Leading and facilitating all aspects of the project management process, e.g., leading project status meetings, supporting project management, and tracking team progress
Monitoring and controlling projects by managing milestones, scope, issues, and risks, ensuring appropriate corrective actions and interventions are enacted in a timely manner, working collaboratively with the business sponsor and teams
Developing, facilitating, and implementing communication strategies and plans to ensure status, activities, accomplishments, issues, and risks are communicated
Providing process leadership, direction, and support to project teams by reviewing deliverables prepared by the team, identifying opportunities for improvement, contributing to the continuous improvement of best practices, and providing thought leadership
Ensuring planned, regular, and effective communication of status, issues, risks, and actions among all persons and parties involved in the program
Demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
Stakeholder Partnership: Elicits cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments using expertise as a facilitator, maintaining a future-focused perspective for the teams
Judgment: Able to quickly assess what information is needed to make decisions, including when escalation is required. Often able to make decisions on their own
Risk Management: Good at identifying risks and opportunities as well as actively managing them to closure
Team Leadership: Is an Agile evangelist acting as a role model for non-direct reporting team members, able to determine when help is needed
Ownership and Commitment: Takes responsibility and accountability for project success criteria. Valuable as a leader and as a team member, completing tasks and/or providing key data for decision making
Learning Agility: Demonstrated ability to learn new skills, including asking the right questions to gain understanding. Has a high level of comfort dealing with ambiguous and new situations
Process Adherence: Able to determine which project management processes are necessary to achieve optimal results. Produces an audit trail through their projects
Business Knowledge: Good understanding of PM standards. Easily aligns projects/programs to stakeholder goals
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Microsoft Project, SharePoint, or similar tools
Education
Bachelor's Degree and Project Management Certification(s) or equivalent
Experience
Minimum 7 years of experience in project management capacity implementing large to mid-sized projects/programs.
Mandatory Qualifications
Demonstrated superior project management skills, including strong leadership
Ability to build PM playbooks with a specific eye toward Software Contract Renewals
Strong technical acumen in a software product development environment
Superior understanding and application of stakeholder management
Heavy bias toward action
Preferred Qualification
Broad general knowledge of commercial software in a company's ecosystem
