The Senior Administrator III, Software Engineer is an advanced member of the Lab and Compliance (LCM) unit within QPS, Department of Translational Medicine (TLM).

Lab and Compliance Management is a support unit within TLM that keep the laboratories and department operational. An intrinsic part of being operational is also process improvement where we will determine processes, software, platforms, and tools that can improve efficiency and productivity.

This role is an individual contributor who will use an analytical, process-focused approach and expert knowledge of programming languages to develop and customize computer programs and ensure the software is as functional and robust as needed.

This role requires advanced skills with programming, computerized databases, statistical data-reduction and customer service. The daily experience is multiple, extensive, parallel interactions and troubleshooting with operations staff, vendors, and clients. It requires the ability to communicate across many specialties and interests: with scientists, with database experts, and with regulatory experts.

The Job

  • Help to analyze use cases for software tools
  • Assist in software evaluation for departmental and global needs (enterprise resource planning)
  • Provide recommendations for upgrades to existing systems and programs
  • Design, test, customize, and develop software to meet functional user needs
  • Review and assess code quality and performance
  • Perform full lifecycle software development
  • Assist in determining and performing implementation and release of software
  • Write documentation for implementation and release of software, including SOPs, policies, and best practices
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software tools
  • Comply with project plans and industry standards
  • Customize and implement analytics and reporting
  • Help optimize the performance of existing databases
  • Perform and help optimize (Extract, Transform, and Load) ETL data engineering job functions related to design, implementation, and maintenance of data pipelines.

Work Location

  • This job will be 100% QPS-office/facility based

Requirements

Education / Experience

  • Combination of relevant education & experience that provides sufficient knowledge & skills to ensure incumbent's success in this role, such as:
    1. University/College Degree in a STEM field, as well as coursework or professional certifications in computer programming, and/or
    2. University/College Degree in a relevant Scientific discipline, and/or
    3. Demonstrated experience in CRO, Clinical Research, or other relevant field.
  • Experience in a Regulated industry laboratory preferred
