About This Position

ChristianaCare is searching for a Medical Librarian to join the Medical Library team. This is an excellent opportunity for a master's level librarian with 1-2 years of professional experience who is looking to join a company based around excellence and love. This position is designed to assist library customers by providing excellent reference services in support of patient care, hospital services, research and education.

This position will service the two libraries at the Newark Campus and the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center. Some responsibilities in this position include:

  • Provides knowledge-based information retrieval and reference services to all internal and external customers of the medical libraries.
  • Serves as a resource for assisting clients in completing their own information retrieval.
  • Provides oversight and maintenance of all electronic resources, including preparing and delivering usage reports to Manager.
  • Provides customized informatics instruction for evidence-based information retrieval as requested.
  • Provides support and literature search services for service line modifications as requested.
  • Develops surveys and compiles results regarding library services and resources.
  • Provides orientations to library resources, equipment and services as needed.
  • Provides introductory instruction through workshops, course sessions, and online modules on topics such as database searching and citation management.
  • Develops and teaches educational sessions to any staff member needing to learn research skills.

Desired candidates must possess an ALA-accredited Master's degree in library or information science and have a minimum of one year of relevant post-degree work experience. Experience conducting literature searching in health subject areas and demonstrated knowledge of health sciences literature is also required along with evidence of project priority, time management skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
