Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Director, Quality to join our growing team. Reporting to the VP of Safety& Mission Assurance, the Director of Quality will be responsible for building and leading a team of Quality professionals. Effective collaboration with procurement, manufacturing engineering, design engineering, and program teams is critical to the role.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for successfully leading and developing a team of high-caliber quality professionals

Maintain responsibility for succession planning, organizational and talent development

Drive advanced product quality planning throughout the product maturity cycle

Application of root cause analysis, lean/six sigma methods, and corrective actions

Benchmarking and adopting industry best practices to drive state-of-the-art quality management standard work

Teaming with operations and supply chain to drive counterfeit parts avoidance and prevention, mistake and error proofing, and lean manufacturing initiatives

FRACAS and failure analysis

Assist in working towards AS9100 and other recognized quality standards

Apply principles of quality science and other qualitative & quantitative methods to cultivate and partner in driving performance to contract, quality, cost and schedule, customer satisfaction, and continuous quality improvement throughout the program lifecycle

Collaborate with various QMS elements and other support functions and customers to meet the various quality, cost, and schedule commitments

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in STEM with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment, including spacecraft flight hardware, aircraft electro-mechanical systems such as engine controls, or other high-reliability commercial or defense electronics production

7+ years of experience within operations, supply chain, or quality

5+ years of experience in successfully managing a quality assurance team

Excellent organizational, leadership, motivational, analytical problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills

Ability to build cross-functional partnerships and engage in and lead cross-functional teams and initiatives

Strong change management skills and experience

Experience with developing and monitoring quality performance metrics

Strategic mindset & long-term vision capabilities

Capable of problem-solving, decision making and failure analysis

A self-motivated leader & a team player

Additional Differentiators

Master's degree in engineering or related technical discipline

Active US Security Clearance

Salary Range $150,000-$220,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Physical Demands

An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. In performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit or stand for long durations of time, in addition to bending, reaching, and walking. This would require the ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. This position is generally sedentary, with substantial computer usage.
