Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Operations Manager (M1) to lead the Harness Work Center in Gilbert, Arizona. The Manufacturing Ops Manager is responsible for the direct supervision of approximately 15-25 employees and processes in a multi-shift manufacturing environment. This role also has daily collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production Planning, and Operations Program Management (OPM). This position reports to the Gilbert Site Manufacturing Leader. Duties/Responsibilities: Accountable for meeting or exceeding the safety, quality, delivery, employee and cost expectations of internal and external customers across all supporting programs Tracking of manufacturing budgets, delivery schedules, and key milestones of flight hardware leveraging tools built by Industrial Engineering and in collaboration with OPM Review manufacturing proposals & basis-of-estimates (BOE's) for potential contracts with OPM Assist in capital expense analysis, justification, return-on-investments (ROI's), and integration into workflow/processes Manage staffing needs to support existing and forecasted program schedules Collaborate and coordinate with master scheduling, program/production planning, manufacturing/industrial engineering, cognizant engineers, other product work centers, functional leaders and business support functions (program managers, finance, contracts, HR, etc.) to achieve product and site goals via sharing of resources, tools, equipment, processes, etc.
Team/People Development: Lead and develop approximately 15-25 manufacturing technicians Responsible for initiating hiring process as needed Dotted-line responsibilities for all product value stream focused support functions (manufacturing and industrial engineering, production planning, operations program management) Employee development, conflict resolution, performance management, and technical training for staff. Ensure discipline and continuous improvement of all process standards Establish and maintain training requirements and deploy resources accordingly Ensure succession plans are in place and be proactive in mentoring key talent to assume increased responsibilities Provide challenging and stretching assignments to key talent in the organization to promote future leaders Holds others accountable and deals quickly with poor performance Proactively strengthen the Value Stream team through the performance management process (individual and group goal setting, coaching and personnel development). Provide inputs to performance of supporting Functional Leaders
Basic Qualifications: 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 0 years of relevant experience with a PhD; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree Ability to solve problems and drive continuous improvements Proficient Microsoft Office applications Experience in leading projects Wire harness manufacturing & assembly experience
Preferred Qualifications: Aerospace or defense product experience Experience with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Ability to strengthen workforce skills in LEAN/Continuous Improvement experience and root cause problem solving Strong business and financial acumen, including capital and talent budgeting and estimate-at-completion (EAC) and Operations Review process understanding 2+ years of direct people leadership experience Commitment to positive employee relations, ethics and compliance Understanding of AS9100/ISO 9001Salary Range: $90,300 - $135,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
