Job description

Overview Intelligent Waves is currently seeking an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to join our team. In this role, the ISSO will be responsible for maintaining the operational security posture of an information system, working closely with the ISSM and ISSE. The ideal candidate will have the knowledge and expertise to manage the security aspects of information systems and oversee day-to-day security operations, including physical and environmental protection, personnel security, incident handling, and security training and awareness. Key responsibilities include monitoring the information system(s) and environment of operation, updating authorization documentation, implementing configuration management, and assessing the security impact of system changes. The ISSO will also make recommendations to the ISSM to ensure compliance and security. This role supports Special Access Programs (SAPs) for the Department of Defense (DoD), including agencies like HQ Air Force, the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), and other military compartments. The ISSO will provide daily support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) activities. Always ready. Anytime. Anywhere. Any domain. Location & Travel: This ISSO position is based at Eielson AFB, Alaska and may require travel (up to 20%) to other sites. Travel will be reimbursed based on GSA Per Diem rates and DoD Joint Travel Regulations (JTR). Security Clearance: This ISSO must be a United States Citizen and hold a current Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI. Employees are required to follow all company and customer site COVID-19 protocols. Responsibilities Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assist the ISSM in meeting their duties and responsibilities
Prepare, review, and update authorization packages
Ensure approved procedures are in place for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying various types of hardware and media
Notify ISSM when changes occur that might affect the authorization determination of the information system(s)
Conduct periodic reviews of information systems to ensure compliance with the security authorization package
Coordinate any changes or modifications to hardware, software, or firmware of a system with the ISSM and AO/DAO prior to the change
Monitor system recovery processes to ensure security features and procedures are properly restored and functioning correctly
Ensure all IS security-related documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals
Maintain all required program documentation necessary to maintain an Authority to Operate
Ensure audit records are collected, reviewed, and documented (to include any anomalies)
Attend required technical and security training (e.g., operating system, networking, security management) relative to assigned duties
Execute the cyber security portion of the self-inspection, to include provide security coordination and review of all system assessment plans
Identify cyber security vulnerabilities and assist with the implementation of the countermeasures for them
Prepare reports on the status of security safeguards applied to computer systems
Perform ISSO duties in support of in-house and external customers
Conduct continuous monitoring activities for authorization boundaries under your preview
Assist Department of Defense, National Agency and Contractor organizations with the development of assessment and authorization (A&A) efforts
Qualifications List of qualifications: Possess an IAT Level II certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M (i.e., Sec+ CE MCSA ) or an IAM Level II certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M.
Prior performance in roles such as Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or ISSO.
Possess an Associate degree or five (5) years' experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or ISSO.
Strong expertise in RMF control and SIEM (Security Information and Event Management).
Proficiency in STIGs/SCAP utilization and management.
Demonstrated experience in Security / ATO / CCRI / SCA-V / Physical Inspection Experience.
Competence in POAM (Plan of Action and Milestones) Management.
Experience with SAP Systems and with JSIQ requirements.
Proficiency in utilizing vulnerability scanning tools and practices.
Linux experience desired.
