OPENS: 24 OCTOBER 2024 CLOSES: 7 NOVEMBER 2024 The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking a full-time Supervisory General Engineer to work in the Electrical Section for the Minuteman III (MMIII) Systems Infrastructure Branch, Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Systems Directorate at FE Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, WY. This position (968354) is an NH-0801-03 which has a typical 2024 salary range of $86,962 - $ 134,435. This position is not eligible for remote or full-time telework; situational-based agreements in the local area may be available at the discretion of the hiring manager. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the first-line supervisor for the electrical section, Infrastructure Branch for the MMIII Weapons System's electrical power distribution and generation systems through end-of-life, as well as providing review and recommendations to electrical infrastructure proposals for the replacement Sentinel Weapon System. The Infrastructure Section designs, and/or reviews the designs of others, for sustainment and modifications of Real Property and Real Property Installed Equipment (RP/RPIE) and ICBM Infrastructure and Equipment (IIE) that directly supports the ICBM Launch Facilities, Missile Alert Facilities/Launch Control Centers, and Test Launch Facilities at Malmstrom AFB, MT, Minot AFB, ND, FE Warren AFB, WY and Vandenberg SFB, CA. The Infrastructure team also provides technical data and maintenance procedures for field level and depot level maintainers from missile maintenance groups, civil engineer squadrons, and depot field teams. DUTIES: Serves as first-line supervisor performing the following tasks: typical personnel management tasks, assigns and manages work within the Branch, organizes and conducts training; acquires necessary resources to accomplish the mission; and provides feedback and evaluations for assigned employees. Contributes to current and future ICBM infrastructure policy and guidance development. Performs engineering duties, implements digital engineering concepts, integrates efforts with multiple System Program Offices, Depot Field Teams, MAJCOM and installation level leadership and maintenance personnel, and provides technical expertise in support of the MMIII electrical section. Manages engineering workload for assigned area of responsibility, reviews, and allocates tasks across team members, directs technical evaluations, and leads reviews of technical documentation for electrical section. Mentors, leads, guides, directs engineers, logisticians and equipment specialists within the electrical section on technical issues; assures that assigned employees work as a cohesive team; and provides employees with opportunities that foster professional career development. SKILLS: At least five years of relevant engineering experience is typically preferred to perform the role of supervisory engineer. Professional Engineer (PE) registration is desired, but not required. Knowledge of professional engineering principals, logistics program management, managerial support initiatives, acquisition policy and procedures, planning, programming and budgeting systems, contracting procedures and Air Force resource allocation procedures is highly desired. Ability to analyze, plan and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program objectives and requirements within available resources is valued. Experience in electrical/electronics engineering, mechanical/materials engineering, configuration management, and/or systems engineering is preferred. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION: U.S. CITIZENSHIP Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance, and will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise. To qualify as an engineer, employee must meet the education and specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Professional and Scientific Positions : Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Engineering and Technical Management "Practitioner" certification category within required timeframe after appointment.
