ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR/LIFE ENHANCEMENT COORDINATOR/EVENT PLANNER We are looking for the right person to create and implement an engaging program for our residents. We specialize in assisted living and memory care. Highgate Senior Living's mission is to devote ourselves to help each resident live a life of purpose and each of us plays a crucial role in doing so. We operate communities in the western US and are seeking the right Life Enhancement Coordinator to join our team. Help us create an environment that promotes a sense of well-being and the feeling of true community in a gracious, homelike setting. This position is full-time and includes coordination/planning of both small and large group activities, events, and opportunities for our residents to learn new things. In this role, you will lead the team in providing a program that includes the pursuit of creative interests like the Arts and music, provides opportunities for socialization, promotes a wellness program that includes physical exercise and mindfulness, provides outlets for spiritual fulfillment, creates environments for residents to focus on continuous learning, cognition stimulation and family/friends engagement. Living with purpose is the fundamental principle our program is founded upon, as all of us want to feel needed and useful. Executing this mission driven role helps our residents maintain that sense of purpose, feel valued and necessary in the world. The successful candidate will be an organized and detail-oriented individual with a positive and self-motivated attitude. You must have strong communication and computer skills. Excellent time management skills are important along with relationship building, persistence, flexibility, and adaptability. You must want to have fun and spend time interacting with others to be successful in this role. SKILLS NEEDED: Strong organizational and leadership skills Ability to design and execute an appealing program for seniors at varying cognitive and physical ability levels Innovative thinking necessary to develop a program that includes opportunities for our residents to continuously learn new things An understanding of how to build a program that encompasses physical exercise, spirituality, social engagement, creative outlets, intellectual stimulation, and opportunities for residents to give back to others Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong persuasion skills Proficient in MS Office suite and ability to learn new software Team player with ability to develop strong working relationships along with customer service focus Ability to adapt/respond quickly to changing requirements and effectively balance priorities to meet deadlines An understanding or the willingness to gain an understanding of the various forms of dementia and how to help residents with dementia still live with purpose Leadership skills to build, motivate, oversee, and guide a team that functions well Comfortability with marketing your volunteer opportunities to help support the overall program Business acumen to assume responsibility for the budgets, both labor and supplies RELATABLE EXPERIENCE: Experience in coordinating group activities and/or structured opportunities that encourage people to come together Jobs that have included event planning, marketing, or recreational therapy Leadership roles in which you have been a multi-tasker, balancing customer service with objective project goals Experience with facilitating groups and understanding group dynamics Jobs you have had working with seniors or other vulnerable populations Experience in Assisted Living / Healthcare therapeutic recreation in prior roles QUALIFICATIONS: 1- At least 21 years of age 2- At least 2 years in customer service, event planning, groups is required 3- Current negative TB test 4- Ability to pass criminal record/background check 5- Valid driver's license with a qualifying driver abstract 6- Good time management skills 7- Must be able to work well independently with little oversight 8- Must have a track record of top-notch organizational abilities and leadership skills 9- A desire to have fun, interact with others with high frequency and be comfortable leading groups As an organization we offer our team members a good benefits package, the ability to be heard, have their opinions count and the opportunity to innovate. Our compensation package will be flexible for this role based on the credentialing, tenure and skill sets each candidate brings for consideration. The starting hourly wage range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00 per hour. Prior experience in seniors housing programming is preferred.
