Job description

Heavy Equipment Field Technician

Looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Field Technician to join a well-established Equipment Sales and Service Retail dealership with multiple locations. The ideal candidate should have a keen eye for precision in their work and understand the importance of customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include performing basic diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance tasks on heavy construction equipment, both customer-owned and dealer-owned, at various service locations.(Experience with Heavy Equipment and OEMs such as John Deere, CASE, Komatsu, Hitachi, Bobcat, and/or CAT is preffered).

Responsibilities of theHeavy Equipment Field Technician:


  • Conducting basic diagnostics and repairs on heavy construction equipment.
  • Maintaining the condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
  • Delivering quality repairs efficiently within established timelines.
  • Collaborating effectively with customers and team members.
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
  • Perform field repairs as needed (truck provided by company).
  • Adhering to safety rules and regulations.
  • Completing required reports and forms.
  • Tracking time and materials used for assigned duties.

Qualifications for theHeavy Equipment Field Technician:


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in service repairs on heavy construction equipment.
  • Preferably experienced with CAT, John Deere, CASE, Komatsu, Volvo, and Hitachi.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance using specialized tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures.
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems relevant to agricultural and turf equipment repair.
  • Familiarity with Service Advisor and basic computer functions.
  • Capability to operate vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Basic Service Technician certification preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; associate's degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
  • Forklift license preferred.
