Speech Language Pathologist Job Description

We are looking for a passionate and ethical SLP to provide one on one services to our students with special needs. Our team values empathy, respect, creativity, and nerdiness to the core. The SLP is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a variety of communication and swallowing disorders for the students at Lilac Learning Center while reporting to Site Directors. This is an at-will position in an at-will state. This is a part-time role and does not qualify for benefits or FLSA. This position will be of a hybrid nature with limited travel or 100% virtual.

Duties:

  • Staff
    • Collaboration with Special Education Teacher as well as other members of the LLC team (Site Director, BCBA, Behavior Technicians) on student objectives and documentation
  • Student
    • Conduct student evaluations and assessments to Identify individual communication needs
    • Develop student programs and draft IEP goals in consultation with other LLC personnel
    • Collaborate with all LLC team members to support student progress toward IEP goals
    • Provide SLP services as indicated in assigned student IEPs
    • Collect data and assess student performance toward identified learning targets and IEP goals
    • Assess and report on student progress toward IEP goals at intervals identified in assigned student IEPs
    • Collaborate with each student's IEP team to draft and develop IEP goals in alignment with internal and external compliance timelines and instructional standards
  • Facility
    • Use of LLC technology
    • Possible travel to LLC locations

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Education Requirements

CCC-SLP

Experience Preferences

2+ Years experience as an SLP

Effective history of working with individuals with severe behavior

Physical requirements

Must be able to assume and maintain a sitting or standing position for extended periods of time

Must be able to sit, stand, lift 5 pounds, push/pull 5 pounds, carry 5 lbs, grasp, reach, handle, talk, and hear

Other requirements

Criminal background clearance or formal exception

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and verified auto insurance

Equipment Used

Children's toys and educational materials

Office equipment including laptop, ipad, and phone

Working Environment

Noise Conditions: exposed to moderate and occasional loud noise from students, toys, and normal school equipment

Heat/Cold: may be subject to heat, cold, wet, and/or humid weather conditions, and occasionally five or more minutes in extreme heat, cold, or wet weather conditions on a very occasional basis when traveling to a site

Injury exposure: position requires physical activity and occasionally physical management of a student therefore may present conditions for injury on a very occasional basis when traveling to a site

Environmental Exposures: potential exposure to secretions, saliva, blood, urine, and feces; thereby, potentially at risk for exposure to bloodborne pathogens on a very occasional basis when traveling to a site
