  • Experience with configuring ArcGIS Online web maps and applications (Field Maps)
  • Familiarity with programming languages and workflows (Python preferred)
  • Comfortable with data and datum conversion, and raster analysis
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle competing demands and identify the critical path

Pay and Benefits

This is a full-time, permanent position. Candidates with 3 - 5 years of experience earn a salary between $78K - $86K annually. Those with 6+ years of experience earn a salary between $86K - $94K annually. We offer quarterly merit-based bonus opportunities, equity and ownership options, 401K, medical insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, long-term disability insurance, and life insurance. We also offer 11 paid holidays and 20 days of paid time off per year.

Floyd Snider provides employees with a flexible work schedule that includes core hours from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Most staff are expected to work onsite 2 - 3 days per week, depending on their distance from the office.

Project work may require you to work more than your standard billable work week, but Floyd Snider provides extra time off to recognize this effort. Regional travel is a small part of this role. You won't typically go more than 3 hours away, and we'll cover all your expenses.

The Details

The right candidate will have a mix of the following skills or experience:

  • Familiarity with GPS data collection and GNSS units
  • Work experience or education in environmental sciences, especially experience organizing and querying chemistry or environmental data
  • Desire to work specifically in an environmentally focused practice, with an understanding or interest in learning about environmental sampling, environmental remediation, and engineering practices
  • Familiarity with relational database design and systems, like MS-Access and SQL Server
  • Experience using AutoCAD, and with using and manipulating AutoCAD data within a GIS framework

Beyond your relevant experience, we're looking for someone with the following qualities:

  • Attention to detail - You know that the little things matter, and that accuracy builds trust. Getting the details right allows the viewer to focus on the key message.
  • Communication - You are inquisitive and ask questions to ensure the GIS work products you create enhance understanding of the project. You like working in a collaborative environment with a wide range of personality types and work styles.
  • Problem Solving - You are solution oriented and enjoy learning new skills and developing new tools to improve workflows and expand in-house GIS capabilities. You have familiarity with user forums to learn new techniques.

Most of your day-to-day work will entail making figures for reports, creating cartographic products to explore patterns in spatial data, and preparing coordinate data to load into our database. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with other GIS and technical staff to prioritize workload, discuss task completion methods, collaborate on tool development, and develop work products that speak to a variety of audiences with differing levels of technical knowledge. You'll also be able to participate in our Data Services Committee and Professional Graphics Group, where we develop process improvements and explore new data visualization strategies based on project needs and industry trends; in this capacity you'll exercise your creativity to identify practical GIS-based solutions and to develop scripted workflows.
