Role Summary:

The Crew Planning Systems Manager is the sole subject matter expert in all Crew Planning processes, systems, procedures, and applications, assuring that safety, compliance, and customer service are optimized at Alaska Air Group (AAG). As an individual contributor, this role defines long-term strategy for the implementation of policies and procedures to support the administration and maintenance of crew planning software with a focus on PBS for inflight planning and pilot planning departments as well as other products such as JCP and SRBS.

Key Duties:
  • Influences and executes strategy for Crew Planning systems.
  • Manages Crew Planning software and processes and acts as the business escalation point for identified systems.
  • Lead the development of business cases to support system enhancements, new functionality and/or replacement systems.
  • Conduct alternative analysis to evaluate potential solutions for the purpose of identifying the most viable solution path.
  • Develop business requirements; assist with product scope, objectives and preliminary budgetary requirements documentation.
  • Partner and collaborate with IT System and Project Managers to ensure that resources are available and clearly understands the business requirements, goals and strategic vision.
  • Monitor and regularly report on the progress, availability of resources and budgetary status of approved initiatives.
  • Business product manager responsible for liaising with business users, IT System Manager and Business Partners to report, track and resolve product issues in a prioritized manner.
  • Creates 24-month strategy for Crew Planning business resiliency solutions.
  • Provides strategic and technological guidance in the analysis, design, and improvement of processes and change management within the tools utilized for Crew Planning assuring safety, compliance, and customer service are optimized.
    • Owns the alignment of policies and procedures for guests and employees.
    • Advanced expertise in all Crew Planning systems
    • Provide Tier 0 support for all Crew Planning applications.
    • Provides direction for proposed software modifications to determine the impact on existing processes and interfaces.
    • Ensure applications are optimized and are consistent with overall crew planning strategy.
  • Develops and maintains high level communication plans for Crew planning systems.
  • Builds business partner relationships cross divisionally to evolve business process and operational standards.
  • Engages with Flight Operations leadership to align standards, department communication and coordination, policy, and procedures.
  • Provides recommendations and process changes as changes occur inside and outside of crew planning.
  • Implements, tracks, and coordinates software releases and manages known issues with crew planning software.
  • Recommends systems/service for all Crew Planning software, capitalizing on strategies of common AAG systems, system consolidation, simplification, and minimal customization.
  • Recommends systems and/or services and operational approaches to increase efficiencies, operational flexibility, and productivity with Crew Planning.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills:

Required

  • 7 years of relevant project management support in airline operations, or systems/processes in aviation industry, or related area.
  • Bachelor's degree, or an additional two years of relevant training in lieu of this degree.
  • Working knowledge of NavBlue PBS, JCP, SRBS, FTMS, FA maintenance's critical functions.
  • Functioning knowledge of Business Continuity and Continuity of Operations.
  • Demonstrated project and change management skills, and the ability to apply research and best practices to existing business problems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Technical writing, training, or job coaching experience.
  • Understanding of the Aviation Disaster Family Assistance Act of 1996.
  • Intermediate knowledge of project management methodologies and processes

Salary Range: $117,500 - $176,300 / year Salary Details:

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don't typically hire at the top of the range.
