WHO is Sound Generations?

We are a comprehensive non-profit organization that serves older adults and people with disabilities in King County. Our mission is to partner with older adults to provide accessible and inclusive services so they can age their way.

We are currently seeking a Site Coordinator - Chef to join our Community Dining team at Renton Senior Activity Center, WA.

WHAT will I do?

The Site Coordinator - Chef supervises and participates in the preparation and service of nutritious meals. Maintains a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. Provides administrative support for the program.

Pay Rate: $26.00 per hour.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week. This is a lunch service and work would end in the afternoon.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and participate in preparation and service of food; Follow approved menu and plan and shop for whole weeks meal service. Prepare main entrees as directed; anticipate and perform preliminary preparation necessary for next days meals.
  • Shop for weekly menu and pick-up food donations. Manage the budget to stay within the stipend provided by Community Dining. Build food donation contacts and use donated foods as applicable to cut costs.
  • Inspect food being prepared to ensure proper quantity, quality, and handling; demonstrate and train volunteers in cooking, preparing, and serving food.
  • Plan, organize and rotate menus and determine amount of food to meet menu requirements; keep and submit records needed to be in compliance.
  • Lead and participate in the cleaning of the kitchen and equipment; assure that standards of sanitation and safety are met.
  • Recruit, train and manage volunteers and perform volunteer related administrative tasks.
  • Assist with the implementation of nutrition education programs, surveys, and distribution of materials.
  • Perform administrative support by providing program data and completed paperwork to the admin staff weekly. Weekly review and code transactions in accounting system.
  • May perform minor bookkeeping duties; organize and record daily receipts for deposit and ensure proper cash control procedures are followed.
  • Regularly communicate about any issues, changes or questions with supervisor or program administrative staff; respond with clarity to queries and requests at earliest opportunity.
  • Coordinate with Senior Center to integrate the meal program with center activities and goals.
  • Ensure flow of daily client donation collection, recording and safe keeping happens following the cash handling policy; weekly or twice a week deposit collected funds to the bank.

Requirements:

You must have:

  • High school diploma OR equivalent.
  • Valid Food Handler's permit or ability to obtain one.
  • Two (2) years of related work or volunteer experience.
  • Working experience in a large-scale food service or culinary operation.
