Position Description

Starting Salary Range: $85,000 - $120,000 - depending on experience

Location: Everett, WA

Classification: Exempt

General Position Summary:

Develop, estimate, sell and manage multiple, specialized, fast-track mechanical construction projects through effective communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document control, and forecasting of costs and profitability. Generate business plans and expand revenue base through marketing, sales, and business development. Train, mentor, and supervise Special Projects Group's Project Engineers. Support and collaborate with company superintendents, foreman, engineers, detailers, and management to deliver quality and profitable projects.


Essential Job Functions:

1. Take leadership role and ownership of estimates, project scoping, proposals, project safety and project execution while meeting or exceeding department profitability goals.

2. Ability to provide conceptual HVAC and plumbing designs for estimating purposes.

3. Understanding of mechanical systems costing and value analysis.

4. Develop and maintain client relations.

5. Review job estimate of direct reports and prepare project budgets.

6. Estimate and negotiate change orders.

7. Track, forecast, report labor hours and material costs.

8. Buyout major equipment and subcontracts.

9. Expedite and track deliveries of major equipment/materials.

10. Maintain working knowledge of general conditions, work scope and specifications of project contract/subcontract.

11. Review contract drawings, detail drawings and specifications.

12. Prepare fabrication shop work package including detail drawing review, material take off and buyout, and man-hour fabrication budget.



Skills Required to Perform the Essential Duties of the Job:

1. Ability to accurately estimate mechanical work.

2. Ability to understand and communicate basic mechanical concepts.

3. Advanced computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Project, Access, and AutoCAD


Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervise Special Projects Group's Project Engineers



Position Requirements


Education/ Experience Requirements Needed to Perform the Essential Duties of the Job:

• A minimum of two years' experience as a mechanical project manager

• Construction Management or Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering degree desired

• A minimum of one years' experience managing PE's.

• Basic HVAC and plumbing engineering knowledge


Licensing or Other Special Certifications Required:

• Maintain a valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
