Job Description
The Non-Registered Radiologic Tech correctly performs/follows radiological and additional modality exams following established protocol, policy, and procedure. In tandem with adapting procedure as appropriate for patient's age, condition, or anatomy, verifying physician orders, making modifications of preps, exposure factors, proper identification of images, use of markers, produces high quality images w/collimation present, reviews previous studies prior to exam, checks for completeness of exam, inclusion of all appropriate images, assures all pertinent anatomy is included, for all exams for neonates to geriatric patients. Reports/communicates results and critical findings to appropriate personnel. Follows all personnel, safety and infection control policies, National Patient Safety Goals and JC standards. Communicates with manager or department director on issues concerning departmental productivity or performance improvement. Actively supports and promotes departmental, hospital, and system patient satisfaction efforts/goals. Completes mandatory hospital/departmental education, maintains required professional certifications and continuing education mandates necessary.
Enrolled in Allied Health Program for a minimum of six months with satisfactory progress, CPR, Radiation Safety, Bio-Medical Equipment
Safety Check. Demonstrates good communication skills necessary to relate to physicians, peers and patients on a professional/technical level. Follows VH policy for Standards of Behavior. Attends/Reviews staff meetings/minutes.
Uses information systems technology as related to Imaging department functions. Accurately enters patient data for completion of exam. Maintains technologic knowledge to correct patient data and limits the number of unspecified imaging data. Uses good organizational skills in the performance of job duties. Other duties as assigned. This is a safety sensitive position.
The Non-Registered Radiologic technologist will not conduct portable examinations, fluoroscopic examinations or support surgical procedures independently.
Education
Enrolled in WMC Allied Health Imaging program for a minimum of six months with satisfactory progress
Certification & Licensures
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Healthcare Provider' (HCP) - AHA approved required
ARRT (R) Registered, or Registry eligible required within 6 months of date of hire
Enrolled in WMC Allied Health Imaging program for a minimum of six months with satisfactory progress as documented by Program Director or their designee
Qualifications
Competent in performing general diagnostic radiography/fluoroscopy and portable radiography examinations and procedures on patients of all ages. Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development and competence in providing Radiologic Services for patients of all ages including neonate, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric. Demonstrates good communication skills necessary to relate to Physicians, peers and patients on a professional/technical level. Ability to work weekdays. Holidays and weekends as needed.
