Our Winchester, VA location is seeking a Lead Staff Chemist to join our team. Are you ready to shape the future with us? THE POSITION Lead Staff Chemist, OSullivan Films, Inc., Winchester, VA: Work closely with Research group to support new product developments based on novel polymer systems. Responsible for market focused development and portfolio maintenance for thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) films products for automotive interiors. Develop region product strategy in alignment with global R&D strategy and implementation. Create and maintain the regional product portfolio. Ensure organization policies are uniformly understood and properly applied. Develop and lead a high impact development team. Responsible for complete product development (time/cost/quality). Product benchmarking and identification of strategic technology partners to support the region. Full time employment, Monday Friday, 40 hours per week. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of related work experience. Of the required experience, must have experience 5 years of experience in each of the following: Developing thermoplastic polyolefin formulation for automotive original equipment manufacturer requirements and application; Using thermoplastic polyolefin processing techniques, including extruding, calendaring, printing, laminating, post-embossing, and thermoforming; and Handling technical communication with customers regarding customer specifications and development of materials for automotive products. Of the required experience, must have experience 2 years of experience in each of the following: Applying automotive quality standard processes, including failure mode error analysis, production part approval processes, and advance product quality planning; Optimizing processes for rate improvement or scrap reduction and engaging in problem solving projects for the automotive industry; and Conducting benchmark analysis for automotive customers and applying new requirements to new product development. Of the required experience, must have experience 1 year of experience in each of the following: Overseeing direct reports in the automotive industry, including in the use of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) according to the AIAG & VDA FMEA Handbook; and Serving as a technical expert in customer projects and ensuring the development group follows company chemical strategy for development. Must have experience overseeing the market launch of a new thermoplastic product for the automotive interior industry, from beginning (incubator stage) to completion (market launch).
