Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to be part of their dynamic Engineering team, in support of our Navy customer, working at the U.S. Navy's Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC). SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS and Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future. This position supports the Navy's surface ship combat system programs in multiple warfare areas using system engineering disciplines. The combat system engineering team combines system elements, associated equipment, firmware and software while leveraging the resources of key personnel to form a functional operational system. The selected candidate will: Direct participation in the system development process with combat system design agent in the activation of current and future baselines
Translate customer and design requirements into software or hardware solutions
Perform technical planning, system integration, system verification, and validation
Plan and design the physical installation requirements (e.g., provides power, cooling, space, weight, grounding data for hardware installations)
Design interfaces for new equipment to existing systems or for reconfiguring systems to provide greater flexibility and capacity
Ensure strict adherence to all mechanical and electrical hardware specifications
Participate in overall design and structure of the site's combat system interfaces and network switching to include internal and external interfaces
Support validation of ship's combat system design through the site installation, integration and certification testing process.
Participate in design reviews
Provide system Life Cycle support installing equipment upgrades and removing obsolete components to ensure the site's combat system configurations are current and support site test requirements Required Education, Experience, & Skills Minimum education and years of related work experience required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technical or Scientific discipline from an accredited college or university. Additional skills/experience required:
Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities
Ability to develop solutions to a wide range of complex system-of-systems technical problems that require ingenuity, innovation and collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
Ability to perform and understand multiple tasks simultaneously
Security clearance requirement: This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Secret level clearance. The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements. You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance. Selected candidate will receive a contingent offer and start date will be delayed until an interim Secret clearance is granted. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Active DoD Secret security clearance
Ability to read and comprehend production drawings
Ability to read and comprehend military specifications for electrical and optical cable, connectors and back shells, and system design, integration and integrity testing
Familiarity with the latest applicable Military Specifications for electrical and optical cable, connector, back shell, and system design, integration, and integrity testing
Prior experience as an installation engineer in ship repair facilities or equivalent industrial environments
Prior experience with equipment engineering change installation (Field Changes, Engineering Changes, ORDALTs, SHIPALTs, Field Modification Bulletins)
Prior shipboard operational experience with AEGIS or SSDS combat systems
Experience with ship support systems (HP/LP Air, dry air, 400Hz SSFC Systems, Electronic Cooling Water Systems) Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $56200 - $95500 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
