Job description

Duties You will provide and perform the following performance dietician services in support of the STRIKE force resiliency program for EODGRU TWO personnel, with the priority on EOD and ND operators. You will provide nutritional planning, counseling, and documentation that is guided by evidence-based peer-reviewed literature. You will advise the chain of command on issues pertinent to nutrition and performance nutrition. You will provide individual and group counseling for guidance on performance nutrition. You will design and implement performance nutrition programs for SOF personnel in garrison, TAD/TDY, and deployed settings. You will develop nutritional protocols and guidelines for rehabilitation and performance. You will collaborate with the program Manager and/or Director of Sports Medicine for implementation of new protocols and guidelines. You will attend and participate in meetings with other STRIKE staff members and medical personnel as requested and/or required. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a performance dietitian with Special Operations personnel, Division 1 collegiate athletes, Olympic athletes, and/or professional athletes. Experience working in large groups with minimal equipment (Adaptability), Experience working with athletes returning from injury in conjunction with PT/ATC (Return to Play). Experience presenting or lecturing on performance topics to large groups (>15 People). Experience planning, implementing, and assessing techniques and principles as they apply to performance nutrition and education sufficient to serve as training resource advisor/consultant. Knowledge of medical conditions and terminology as well as of human behavior change theories, motivational strategies, and counseling techniques to resolve the most difficult problems associated with uncooperative or unmotivated EOD operators and NDs as necessary. Education Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Applicants must meet one of the following requirements for all grade levels: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in the fields of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science. The educational program must have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics(external link) (ACEND), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. For dietitian positions, the curriculum must have been in accordance with the qualifying requirements established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND)(external link) (formerly American Dietetic Association(external link) (ADA) prior to January 1, 2012) in effect at the time of graduation. Completion of a coordinated undergraduate program, internship, or other clinical component approved by AND (formerly ADA) for dietitians or nutritionists. Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
