TITLE: Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Coordinator ISA II-B LOCATION: USPIS - Sterling, VA SECURITY CLEARANCE: Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) SCHEDULE: Due to the nature of law enforcement work and operation, position may require occasional support outside of core working hours, as well as intermittent weekend support, mission dependent. Join KACE and make a difference! About the Role Provides task-specific, program and technical support to the Postal Inspection Service's Technical Services Unit. The Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Coordinator will support the development and administration of the Inspection Service's UAS program. What you will do: UAS Management Support Maintain equipment inventory, registration, distribution/deployment, and assignment of UAS into appropriate systems. Confirm equipment entry and inventory management in ETS and SEAM. Monitor and maintain the certification status of USPIS FAA registered pilots and aircraft. Ensure that all UAS operations adhere to FAA regulations and internal safety protocols. Maintain UAS equipment accountability, management, maintenance, and warranty Ensure that all UAS operations adhere to FAA regulations and internal safety protocols Ensure all flight and data records are documented properly and stored according to organizational standards Technical Liaison Serve as lead technical liaison with the vendor(s) concerning issues and upgrades to software and equipment. Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to UAS systems. Research emerging UAS technology and serve as the lead tech liaison with vendors. Maintain an awareness of airspace regulations, environmental conditions, and safety procedures during flight operations. Policy Development Coordinate with USPIS Office of Counsel in the development, implementation, and updating of policies and procedures. Participate in the development and maintenance of UAS program documentation such as SOPs, policies, training plans, evidence collection, etc. Includes development of new pilot selection criteria, onboarding process, etc. Training Develop pilot orientation and training. Coordinate training for the field divisions Limited travel to divisions for purposes of training may be required. Communications Maintain consistent communication with pilots, field divisions, and NHQs groups. Provide reports and briefings to a wide variety of audiences on the progress of the UAS program. Other Duties as Assigned Other duties related to UAS operations or projects as assigned by the TSU Program Manager. Minimum Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or demonstrated relevant work experience as required by assigned project or initiative. Substantial experience supporting a UAS program at a law enforcement agency is highly desired. Demonstrated experience coordinating the deployment of Unmanned Aerial Systems within a law enforcement agency; Experience using a variety of UAS hardware and software (e.g., DJI Pilot, Mission Planner, Pix4D); Experience developing policy related to the use of Unmanned Aerial Systems; FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification is desired; Experience with drone operations supporting data collection, investigations, etc; Ability to communicate orally and in writing at a level of proficiency sufficient to effectively convey technical equipment guidance and instruction to Inspection Service personnel; Exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with law enforcement personnel at all levels, peers, managers, other agencies, and external vendors; Demonstrated ability to utilize various computer hardware and software applications, such as Microsoft Office suite products, spreadsheets, and databases; Ability to evaluate program performance, forecast needs, and coordinate hardware and software upgrades as needed; Ability to plan and carry out tasks and projects to completion within reasonable specified time frames without immediate supervision; Ability to provide reports and briefings to USPIS Management as required. Clearance: Applicants selected may be subject to a government background investigation and may be required to meet the following conditions of employment. Security Requirements/Background Investigation Requirements: Must be a U.S Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
Favorable credit check for all cleared positions Successfully passing a background investigation including drug screening.
