Responsibilities Peraton is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator ("Oracle DBA") to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The Senior DBA will be a member of the Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program. CAEIO supports the DOS Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA), providing IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally. The Oracle DBA will be a member of the Database Support team. This team provides support for Consular Consolidated Database (CCD), overseas posts, DMZ, Passport, and Consular One systems. Support functions include operational management of SQL database systems and Database Infrastructure, as well as Tier 2 support for Oracle Databases in administrative activities such as backups, recovery, monitoring, patching, performance tuning, replication, upgrades, and deployments. The team also provides operational support for Oracle, SQL Server, Datashare partners, and other relational and non-relational database systems. An Oracle DBA who thrives on the CAEIO Program has extensive experience with DBA front-end and back-end tools, excellent problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience with Oracle database management; works efficiently under pressure and adapts readily to changing priorities; collaborates with cross-functional teams; and stays current with emerging database technologies. Responsibilities Implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases. Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases. Review database design and integration of systems, provide backup recovery and make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintain security and integrity controls. Develop stored procedures and/or triggers. Audit, modify, and amend data in systems using SQL and PL/SQL commands. Manage database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication between multiple Oracle RDBMS Servers and remote sites. Lead and maintain the integrity, security, and availability of a true global 24x7 OLTP database(s) environment. Duties include disaster recovery, performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance, monitoring database health, and troubleshooting critical incidents.
Participate in and facilitate the full life cycle implementation of Oracle 19c RDBMS and 19c Oracle GoldenGate data replication for production environments.
Leverage experience with:
Upgrading the Oracle RAC database from 19c to 21c/23ai, containerization of the 19c DB to CDB/PDB, configuring the Oracle GoldenGate replications from 19c to 21c HUB, and deploying OEM 13.5 agents.
Managing Oracle Exadata Engineering systems from X2-8 to X8M-8 and ZDLRA backup engineering systems.
Upgrading the Oracle RDBMS system from 19c to 21c/23ai as well as the Transparent Data Encryption.
Applying database administration skills to Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) and Data Guard installation, configuration, and troubleshooting production issues.
Perform database and software life-cycle activities to ensure the highest level of system performance and availability and compliance with business requirements.
Apply advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of the complex system requirements and problems.Core Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 11:00 PM ET - 7:00 AM ET (3rd shift) Location: This position is hybrid with remote work and one day per week in the office in Sterling, VA. The number of days the Oracle DBA works onsite is subject to change based on government/program requirements (for example, surge support might require the individual to be in the office more than two days per week). This position is hybrid after the Oracle DBA completes a 1-week New Hire Training Program, during which the Oracle DBA will work Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM in Sterling, VA. After completing the training program, the Oracle DBA will work their assigned schedule. Qualifications Basic Qualifications U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET government security clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret government security clearance.
At least seven years of experience in a role with responsibilities similar to those defined for this position.
Experience as an Oracle 11g, 19c, 21c, and 23ai database administrator with specific knowledge of RAC, ASM, GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN, Patching, AND/OR Security.
Experience upgrading/migrating Oracle 11g/12c to 19c RDBMS, and/or 19c to 21c.
Foundational knowledge of/experience with Agile/Scrum processes.
Ability to organize tasks for self and others, prioritize and balance tasks, and lead complex projects.
Strong communication skills to communicate systems proposals to team leaders.Desired Qualifications Experience as an Oracle DBA supporting a federal agency's Oracle migration initiatives following Agile Software Development Methodology (Agile or the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe . Experience with Oracle Cloud Computing (private or public).
Experience with Oracle Engineered Systems, such as Exadata and Sun Super Cluster.
Oracle Certified Professional.Education and Experience Requirements: Minimum 16 years with HS diploma; Minimum 14 years with AS; Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with PhD. Target Salary Range $112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
