Job description
Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Polygraph required We are seeking a highly skilled Mission Systems Engineer to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services in Springfield, VA, with a primary focus on the protection of space systems. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in systems engineering, space mission protection, and program lifecycle support. You will play a key role in integrating mission protection functions, guiding system architecture development, and supporting readiness reviews to ensure operational excellence and efficiency. This is a mission-critical role that involves collaborating with government customers and other contractors to safeguard space assets. Key Responsibilities: • Mission Protection Integration: Oversee the integration of mission protection functions and capabilities for production systems. Analyze integrated master schedules to identify operational needs, both near-term and long-term, in a dynamic operational setting. • End-to-End Systems Engineering: Provide end-to-end systems engineering throughout the lifecycle of programs, assisting in the development of concepts of operations (CONOPS) and system architectures. Support the readiness review process to ensure the promotion of new and upgraded mission capabilities. • Requirements Development and Documentation: Assist in the development of requirements specifications and interface control documentation. Support the review and management of RFCs and technical specification documentation. • Standards and Procedures Development: Help create standards, utility tools, and procedures for key program activities, including risk, issue, opportunity, change, and information management. • Alternative Analysis and Recommendations: Analyze alternatives and provide recommendations to multiple government customers, identifying risks, impacts, and potential improvements to enhance system operations and efficiency. Provide critical information to government managers and contractors, supporting mission success through improved decision-making. • Stakeholder Collaboration and Representation: Participate in studies and represent the government in forums that focus on streamlining the delivery of new capabilities and standardizing integration efforts across multiple stakeholders. Qualifications: Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required. Bachelor's degree in science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or relevant field with 9+ years of experience in SETA environments Knowledge of satellite constellations, spacecraft orbits, and ground station characteristics. Experience with full program lifecycle, from concept development and design to deployment and operational maintenance. Expertise in system architecture changes, systems analysis, requirements definition, interface control documentation, and verification/validation. Familiarity with systems engineering processes, including risk management and change control. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to address customer requirements proactively and provide solutions for broad, abstract challenges. Excellent communication skills (written/verbal) with impeccable interpersonal skills and sound personal judgment. • Desired: Real-time operations experience as a spacecraft operator or vehicle engineer. Familiarity with MBSE/Digital Engineering, AGILE development methodologies, and cloud technologies. Experience with Jira, Confluence, or other collaboration tools. Work Environment:
