Job description
A financial firm is looking for a MQ Admin to join their team. This role is remote.
Pay: $45-50/hr
US Citizens only
Responsibilities:
Provides on-going multi-computer site support for Middleware Software activities associated with the installation, upgrading, testing, and maintenance of Middleware software and hardware in a multiple server and multiple network operating system environments.
Follows detailed work plans for both installation and continuing maintenance.
Conducts tests and monitors new installations.
Advanced level position is recognized as an advanced contributor and subject matter expert in field.
Knowledge: Advanced knowledge pertaining to concepts and principles in functional area.
Communications: Excellent organizational and communication skills, creativity, attention to detail (compliance), and negotiation skills to interpret results, develop communications and recommend improvements. Able to present information within all settings in a credible, confident and influential manner.
Communicates in a concise, direct and purposeful way. Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to interact with anticipated audiences in a courteous, service-oriented manner.
Risk Management: Responsible for understanding and applying risk management discipline in decision making, and contributing to his or her function s risk management.
Decision Making: Works independently on broad assignments or under general directions as to scope or objectives. Makes decisions within established or widely accepted standards. Achieves assigned/planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, training, business principles, and practical experience.
1) Provides advanced technical, ongoing support of Middleware.
2) Oversees the installation, upgrade, testing and maintenance of multiple server and network operating system environments.
3) Oversees installation and deployment of security patches across the server environment and ensures adherence to change control policies.
4) Reviews and implements technical standards and procedures.
5) Oversees the monitoring and tuning on a regular basis. Produces statistics on performance and is responsible for identifying and resolving performance problems.
6) Ensures problem resolution. Reviews research and testing and recommendations.
Qualifications:
-Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience/Masters Degree may be preferred with 10+ years of relevant work experience.
-On call for production issues (once every 9th week likely)
-5-7 years experience (the more the better) in hands on MQ admin work
-Knowledge of MQ product from an admin perspective
-able to install product (below 9.1 version not relevant) (9.3.x is the goal)
-Deep knowledge of working on AX, Linux
-Need to have a solid understanding of the operating system
-Good knowledge of networking/connectivity for troubleshooting
-Must be flexible (sometimes will need extra hours during the week/on weekends as needed)
-Nice to have-Agile framework familiarity Nice to have-Used to using jira & ServiceNow is helpful
Physical Demands: Requires some degree of sitting (for prolonged periods of time), standing, lifting carrying, pushing, pulling more than 20 lbs.
Hours of Work: May require extended work hours.
Occasional travel including overnight stays may be necessary. May be subject to on-call and call back as needed.
