Reston, VAREMOTE WORKRemote work is not authorized.TRAVELNone JOB DESCRIPTIONAs part of a collaborative and mission-focused team, you'll leverage your expertise in SharePoint and programming languages such as PowerShell, JavaScript, CSS, .NET, and HTML to create and debut custom tools that meet and exceed client needs. You will systematically update metadata terms and develop forms to capture and store critical information, ensuring our solutions are both efficient and compliant with industry standards.
This role goes beyond just coding. You'll be the go-to expert for making strategic recommendations and installing major software releases, product updates, hotfixes, and service packs. You'll also have the chance to showcase your creativity by developing dashboards, websites, and reports that provide valuable insights and enhance organizational capabilities.
You will be instrumental in analyzing user requirements and designing software that is not only feasible but also aligns with time and cost constraints. Your work will span the entire software lifecycle, from performing SharePoint customizations and integrations to upgrading systems in accordance with rigorous Configuration Management, Change Management, and Security policies.

Design and Customize Workflows: Create and refine automated business processes using programming languages like PowerShell, JavaScript, and .NET.
Perform SharePoint Customization: Customize SharePoint sites, web parts, forms, and lists to meet user needs and improve functionality.
Technical Support: Provide ongoing technical support to Peraton team members and customer SharePoint users, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
User and Permission Management: Add new users to systems, control access to document libraries, and set or adjust permissions as required.
Monitor System Performance: Regularly check the performance of websites, applications, and SharePoint environments to ensure they are running efficiently.
Update Metadata Terms: Systematically update metadata terms as required by changing business needs or regulations.
Backup Procedures: Perform data retrieval and execute backup procedures to safeguard against data loss.
Analyze User Needs and Requirements: Engage with users to understand their needs and analyze software requirements to determine the feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
Test and Deploy Custom Applications: Conduct testing of customized applications or tools and deploy them in the appropriate environments.
Implement SharePoint Integrations: Perform integration tasks to ensure SharePoint systems are functioning with other business systems and tools.
Update and Maintain Managed File Shares (MFS): Maintain MFS in line with approved SOPs, ensuring proper organization and accessibility.
Create and Maintain Reports: Develop and update dashboards, reports, and other visual tools for tracking and reporting on system performance and user activity.
Security Management: Review and ensure that all system and software security policies are followed, making adjustments to settings as needed.
Install and Test Updates: Install new software updates, hotfixes, service packs, and major releases in test environments, then deploy to production as appropriate.
Review and Optimize Configurations: Regularly review system configurations, make recommendations for improvements, and implement approved changes to optimize performance and security.QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Years of Experience:
10 years of experience in information technology, and
5 years of SharePoint Server engineering experience, and
3 years of experience as a SharePoint developer, and 3 years of client interaction and working independently as a thought leader.Technical Skills and Experience:
SharePoint Development: Extensive experience in customizing, integrating, and upgrading SharePoint environments, including site collections, web parts, and document libraries.
PowerShell Scripting: Proficiency in automating tasks, managing systems, and developing scripts to enhance workflow efficiency.
JavaScript: Advanced knowledge for developing interactive web components, websites, and custom applications.
Microsoft .NET Framework: Deep understanding of .NET for building robust and scalable web applications, services, and workflows, including debugging and optimization.
HTML & CSS: Mastery of HTML and CSS for designing, structuring, and styling websites, web parts, and custom user interfaces.
Configuration Management: Knowledge of best practices for managing system configurations, ensuring consistency across environments.
Change Management Processes: Familiarity with structured change management processes to control software updates and minimize disruption.
Workflow Design: Expertise in designing and automating workflows that capture and process data efficiently.
Software Testing and QA: Ability to perform thorough testing, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing, to ensure high-quality software releases.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving technical issues quickly and efficiently.
Software Deployment: Experience in deploying software, including installing updates, hotfixes, and service packs, with minimal disruption.
User Interface (UI) Design: Experience in designing intuitive and accessible user interfaces for custom applications and tools.
Backup and Data Recovery: Experience with data backup and recovery procedures to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity.
Database Management: Proficiency in designing, managing, and optimizing databases, including understanding of SQL for data retrieval and manipulation.
Technical Documentation: Ability to create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for applications, systems, and processes.
Agile Environment Experience: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, Agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Nice to Have, but not mandatory:
Dashboard and Report Development: Skills in creating dashboards and reports that provide insights and support decision-making processes.
SharePoint Administration: Skills in managing user permissions, configuring settings, and maintaining SharePoint sites in line with organizational policies.
Version Control Systems: Proficiency with version control tools (e.g., Git) for managing codebases, tracking changes, and collaborating with teams.
Metadata Management: Experience in systematically updating and managing metadata terms to ensure accurate data categorization and retrieval.
Team Leadership Experience
Education Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or other equally relevant field.
Certification(s) Currently Active: Security+ or other IAT II/III level certification Professional
