As a Senior Security Officer, a typical day will include the following duties: PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Administers and coordinates security programs and other related security activities for a large office or group to ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies and procedures Collaborates with other departments (Human Resources, IT, Program Management) to develop and implement appropriate security programs, policies, or processes Provide high-level guidance and instructions to all employees to ensure any event, circumstance, or act that could be considered a breach of security is reported immediately Participates in the development and implementation of security procedures in coordination with government agencies and company management Develops and conducts security-related training programs Maintains the organizations physical safety and security systems, including surveillance systems, automated security systems, employee ID systems, or fire alarm/sprinkler systems Conducts security briefings. Investigates security violations and recommends corrective actions Maintains liaison with outside agencies Assists employees in acquiring personal security clearance when required Ensures that all requisite reporting, assessments, inspections, and audits are conducted in a timely manner and all necessary documentation and files are adequately maintained May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals May serve as a team or task lead EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related business discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience. 10+ years of related experience in facility or industrial security administration, preferably in the government contracting industry. May require a security clearance, depending on job assignment. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Advanced knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing facilities security. Effective administrative and organizational skills. Effective communication skills.
